It's so easy

The most frustrating part is that the Bush White Hosue publicly declars, "this is how we are going to manipulate the media".

Then, right on cue, the media is manipulated, right in front of our, and their eyes. And, while it is going on, not one of them appears aware that it its happening.

And it happens over and over again.

In addition to being vapid, our reporters are obviously very weak individuals.

And the rest of us pay the price.

Reality?

Re: "My guess would be reality finally hit Bush square in the face!"

Remember, this is the White House that "makes its own reality". So I doubt that any of the suffering others are enduring has made it into the Bubble.

Secondly. Has anything George W. Bush has ever done (vs said)in his entire life given even the slightest indication that he cares even one bit about the consequences of his actions on others? Ever?

closing

Hate works. And Karl Rove knows how to deliver it. When John McCain's Base continues to echo GOP talking points through November, we can look forward to a third Bush term and "100 years" in Iraq.

Worship?

I take issue with the term used “worship” science. One does not, IMO, worship science in terms of presenting offerings and attending services where receiving some bread blessed by science is part of the service.

Rather one trusts the information and results received by observing the scientific method of proposing and testing hypotheses that explain the physical of social world in which one lives.

It is the violation of that process which Creationists routinely use to both “prove” the absolute nature of the King James translation of the Bible and propose various methods of justifying the Noah Flood.

I would have substituted the word “respect”, since I respect the results of scientific methods and have no respect for the results of “Intelligent Design”.

Earth the center?

Re: "Please cite a single person or religion that teaches this. Same with the old saw that some believe the earth is flat."

If you're a Texas Republican, or Martin Selbrede it is.

Original article: McCain defends "Celeb" ad

John McCain's problem

Under Bush Administration rules, John McCain is never permitted to admit having done anything wrong, ever. So he cannot back down from the commercial, now or ever. In fact, in order to justify the Hilton/Speers add (under Bush "double the bet" rules), the next commercial must be even more vindictive and superficial than this one was.

Which meant it will really be a beaut.

However, before we write off these tactics, recall how a Rove campaign works: Under Rove Rules, one must always attack the opponent in the most personal, hateful and supercilious manner possible. It is even better if the attacks are demonstratably false as that compels those on your own side to choose to either:

A. Disagree, which in a Republican Party that values loyalty to the party above all else, including God and Country, means being cut off of all employment and friendships forever.

or

B. Agree, which means that, having signed onto blatant lies, one can never go back and is, in order to save face, forced to agree with whatever is said forever. For example it is still forbidden for any Republican to publicly admit that Saddam had no part in the 9/11 attacks since to do so would contradict Dick Cheney.

And John McCain, having signed onto the Bush Administration Team, 100% will execute according to the Rove plan. And, given the lack of serious reporting or anything approaching critical examination of the facts on the part of our media, it will likely work.

Mitchell

The Republican Party will milk this for "the Liberal Media hates true Americans like John McCain" for weeks, guaranteeing that no Conservative (or possible even Independent) will believe any facts that are reported by anyone other than FoxNews from now through November.

Ther was nothing accidental in this. Rick Davis has now innoculated the McCain campaign against all reports for the remainder ofthe campaign season.

Andrea Mitchell tried

Media reporters who are paid seven-, or even eight-figure salaries should be aboe to do more than "try".

She was played like a pinball machine. And now the McCain campaign will claim "Obama started the negative ads. Don't ask us, ask an independnet reporter such as Andrea Mitchell!"

The US media really is John McCain's Base, whether consciously by such adoring fans as Chris Matthews or unconsciously by such overpaid incompetents as Andrea Mitchell.

The low road

It is obvious that John McCain has signed on 100% to the Rove school of smear and deceit.

The question really is, will Senator McCain's Base report on this change before the November elections?

Or will they, as I suspect, wait until the seventh year of John McCain's second term and loudly wail, "How could we have been so fooled, AGAIN?"

Reasoning?

Re: "does O'Reilly just have very, very little faith in the reasoning abilities of his audience, or is he lying to himself too?"

It is the former. FoxNews watchers get 100% of their ideas, thoughts and opinions through Fox, The 700 Club or Rush Limbaugh.

Bill O'Rielly has absolutely no worry that even one of his deovted followers will check a single "fact" that he puts forward, even against anything that he ahs said the day before.

The same goes for the rest of the FoxNews Family (Sean Hannity, ...) as well as Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson.

With the kind of confidence that nothing he says will be held to account, why should Bill O'Rielly expend even an ounce of energy checking facts? None of his fnas will even know anything happened.

Watched the ad

It is one of the most smarmy piece of propoganda I have ever seen.

Can Republicans do anything other than sneer, at everything?
