Doomed?

Hardly.

Republicans, wheter in Congress or running for president, can count on a National Reporting media that has become, over the past two decades, little more than an arm of the Republican national Committee: Daily repeating talking points directly from the Bush White House, asking only those questions approved in advance by the GOP, terrified of being called a "Liberal media" and too lazy or spineless to actually fact check anything they are told or given by a Republican operative.

With the "Fourth Estate" acting as little more than a GOP re-election committee, The Bush Justice Department purging any voter who even remotely looks like an African American, the Republicans can count on favorable results int he Fall.

Winning

Regarding the author's comment, "It is inconceivable that John McCain can win Ohio against either Obama or Clinton if he continues to spout such preposterous nonsense."

Not necessarilly. All that has to happen is the national media will bury this story and quote within fifteen minutes, in favor of another two weeks repeating everything that Rev. Wright has ever said and associating it with Barak Obama; or parsing Hillary Clinton's "RFK" comment some more.

that is all that is necessary for a "President McCain", and this is exactly what our "Liberal media" will deliver.

Bias

As usual, the Conservative definitin of "fair and balanced" means telling the story exactly the way the Bush Administration wants to spin it.

"Independent" Joe

The Zell Millerization of Senator Lieberman continues along nicely.

What will be most tragic for Senator Joe is that, should he succeed in exacting his revenge on the Democratic Party, and Republicans take over Congress and retain the White House in November, they will immediately throw Joe Lieberman to the wolves, dropping him from any of the fawning treatment he is going to receive up through November of this year.

Senator Lieberman will learn that his Pro-Choice and other "Liberal" social positions are anathema to the religious Right and that his treatment now is merely Republicans taking advantage of a bitter old man, who was so hurt when he lost the Democratic Senate Primary that all he has left is his burning desire to seek revenge on a political party that has otherwise treated him well, considering his political positions on the war in Iraq.

Hate makes for a poor politician. And that is all Joe Lieberman has left. When Republicans are done exploiting Joe's hate all that will be left is for him to make the rounds of the AM hate-Radio circuit for his remaining term in office and beyond.

Spite

Go ahead and withold your vote from the Democratic candidate in November, just to demonstrate how angry you are that Reid and the Democrats i Congress have rolled over once too often for the Bush White House (they have).

"President McCain" will certainly teach them a lesson.

Look how much everyone has to thank Ralph Nader for from his presidential campaign in 2000.

Science

What do you expect from an an Administration that believes Creationism is also a "science"?

blow back

I personally believe that Hillary Clinton is the smartest, hardest working, and most able person on the political scene to be President of the US (all in stark contrast witht he Current Occupant of hte White House).

However I am by no means going to become a Ralph Naderite of the 2008 elections.

Barak Obama is sufficiently capable that he will be up to the job and, most of all, will prevent a third Bush Term in the person of John McCain.

Anyone who wants to let their personal bitterness turn into a revenge motive should just look at what has become of Joe Lieberman. He felt rejected and has turned himself into a puppet of the Republican National Committee.

Is that what we want?

Original article: Scott McClellan comes clean

Conservative Religion

Conservative Religion is a contradiction in terms, at least in the US. Here Religion, at least the version that dominates ourpublic discourse, is extremely Liberal in its objective of controlling every aspect of American thought, word and action.

The Religious Conservatives who serve the Bush Administration will, when it is their turn to excoriate McClellan, declare with full vigor that he will burn forever in Hell for telling America that the Bush team was deceitful and incompetent.

Fortunately for McClellan, the national media will bury this story in a hurry, they have no desire for the debate to start shifting from the Bush Team's deceit to his other point about American reporters failing to live up to their job.

Better to go back to debates on Barak Obama's pastor or Hillary Clinton's reference to RFK.

Hillary Clinton, the "Republican" candidate

In the 2000 Prsidential election, Ralph Nader also declared there was "no difference" between Al Gore and George W. Bush.

4,000 dead Americans and $3 billion a week in Iraq indicate differently.

I understand that some people strongly prefer Barak Obama to Hillary Clinton. And I cannot justify all of her votes either.

But if anyone actually believes that there would be "no difference" between a "President Hillary Clinton" and "President John McCain", they are seriously kidding themselves.

I intend to support Hillary Clinton through the primaries and, should she not receive the nomination, vote for Barak Obama in November. Any Obama OR Clinton supporters who stay out of the Fall elections out of a "Joe Lieberman" style bitterness will get the kind of presidency (Bush III) they may deserve, but the rest of America does not.

Politico

However Politico does provide a useful tool to the Conservative (meaning mainstream any more) media.

It allows commentators, such as Chris Matthews, to quote some of the most right-wing comments from Politico as though it were a "neutral" source. Just the way FoxNews brings on Newt Gingrich and Karl Rove as "neutral" political observers.

In that regard it is serving its political purpose: to maximize the Republican vote in November.
