Another example of the US dancing while Rome (in this case, the world) burns. The US delegation got what they wanted which was another pass and no concrete terms on what individual countries, especially the US needs to do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As far as other countries berating them, well, it's about time. The results of our inaction will be felt globally and we will all suffer. The time to act is now, not two more years from now. So the world had a big conference where everyone talked about this problem we're all facing, and decided, let's put off dealing with it for a while....we'll come up with a solution then...will we?
It really is tiring to hear so many reporters casually casting aside Senator Clinton's very real chance at success. If there truly were objectivity in reporting, she would be seen as the formidable opponent that she is. During this whole campaign there has been an easy dismissal of her by the press. I really have to wonder if there is subliminal misogyny going on here.
I am glad that you put that link in to Gonzalez' review of Obama's voting record. Finally, someone is doing some rigorous analysis of what this candidate actually stands for. It is hugely befuddling that the mainstream media has failed to do this kind of background check and that people have been blithely following along behind this gifted orator without really knowing what he represents. Nader and Gonzalez are right we do need more then two choices in our election process and third, fourth, and fifth parties deserve as much of a chance. While I am not planning on voting for them (and for the record didn't vote for Nader in 2000), they appear to be people who actually walk the walk, and not just talk the talk. They need to be heard and have a chance to impact election reform.
This race is costing a fortune, probably a lot more than most major Hollywood blockbusters.
Why don't doctors prescribe meditation? It is an effective and time proven solution for helping people deal with stress, anxiety and sleeplessness. People are so afraid of getting in touch with what is going on in their minds that they'd rather drug themselves so that they can't think anymore. It's much healthier for people to deal with the roots of the problems that are causing them distress.
I think Cary is missing some things in his reply to LW. It seems to me that the LW is really seeking experience that makes he or she feel. What they really seem to be craving is connection and friendly or loving feelings. The substitute is the adrenaline rush. Why not try participating in group activities? There are certainly groups out there that like to do exciting physical activities and you may meet people that you can connect with as friends. The LW needs a community and a support network. Therapy can provide an opportunity to gain understanding about the ways the LW is failing to connect, but he/she really needs to try taking emotional risks, it can be even more thrilling than physical ones.
If so many politicians have sex with prostitutes, how come they haven't legalized it? It's obvious they have the power to do so, and they indulge in the services. What irks me is the hypocrisy, they say it's bad and denounce it, but they go right out there and do it. We need to be a more honest society. I really wasn't surprised by this at all by this situation, I guess I'm just another cynical Gen-X-er. Honest Politician is a contradiction in terms, but I don't think it has to be.
...perhaps the reason they keep prostitution illegal is to oust each other....

It is legal in Nevada. It would be interesting to get some data for how it is working there. Prostitution, in general, is sex without intimacy. That may be one of the things men and women who participate in it are seeking. Possible motivations aside, it sure won't be going away any time soon, I say legalize it and make it less dangerous for the people participating in it.
What an utterly condescending and patronizing article! It sickens me to read such arrogant tripe.
Web design and coding. I have been designing and developing websites and company identities online and offline for 13+ years. I starting working on the web when most of you were still sucking on pacifiers.
Making art out of recycled materials. I have been making art out of garbage for years. My art has been installed in parks around San Francisco and shown in galleries. I have led community groups to create and execute projects out of recycled materials. I am currently leading an effort to build a sculpture garden in San Francisco's Bayview using native plants and found objects (if anyone knows sources of funding for this, please contact me, ASAP. I've applied for a ton of grants, alas so far to no avail, but I have not given up.) I was featured on the Discovery Channel for building a lowrider cycle powered by a chainsaw that looks like a phoenix.
Cooking I'm a great chef, too!
