Original article: It's not just Giuliani

Regan also ballooned the national debt

Regan, another great conservative, added over $3 trillion to the debt. When he took office the natinal debt was around $1 trillion. When he left it was around $4 trillion!! Now that's republican fiscal conservatism at it's best!

Does he truly believe what he says?

Romney says:

"We believe that every single human being is a child of God -- we are all part of the human family. The conviction of the inherent and inalienable worth of every life is still the most revolutionary political proposition ever advanced. John Adams put it that we are "thrown into the world all equal and alike."

The consequence of our common humanity is our responsibility to one another, to our fellow Americans foremost, but also to every child of God. It is an obligation which is fulfilled by Americans every day, here and across the globe, without regard to creed or race or nationality."

Why haven't we heard about poverty and the poor and how a Romney adminstration would tackel these issues if he truly belives what he say? He says he believes that we are all children of god and responsible to one another. As president whoudl he be responsible to the poor and impoverished in this country? Would his god want him to be?

How does legislation get its name?

How did this act get named the Protect America Act? Who names the legislation? It has nothing to do with Protecting America and everything to do with protecting the telecom companies and protecting the Bush administration.

When McCain wins....

To win in November the Democrats need to win the Electoral College, pure and simple. Sean's analysis is correct and Obama will not won the College and we will all experience W's third term. The point must be that the Democrats need to change their nomination process to look more like the general election (and like the Republican process is). It picks the candidate that can win the general election. Isn't that the point, to win the general election anyway?

New Mac commercial

In the commercial, PC and Mac are talking to a therapist and the therapist is telling PC that it's not his fault he has so many problems. "It's no wonder all of your stuff is made by different people so it has trouble working together. But Mac's operating system and hardware is all made by the same people so it all works together." says the therapist. I think that points out an issue with Macs, that their users are very closely tied to Apple and is actually promoting the proprietary nature of Macs. It doesn't seem like it's something they really want to advertise. Did the commercial strike anyone else as strange?

It could be an opportunity for a great show

If the 'brokered' convention was handled correctly it could be a great opportunity for fantastic ratings as people watch to see what will happen and who will win. It would certainly be more entertaining than the super scripted and dull things the conventions have turned into.

It finally makes sense

I have been reading everything I could about the FISA bill and the Democrats capitulation on this but still could not understand their actions. All I could think was that I was living in the Twilight Zone. And then I read this in Glenn's post today:

"This isn't just another bad bill. It marks a disgraceful end -- a cover-up -- of one of the most extreme Bush lawbreaking scandals, and it is one for which Democrats are largely responsible."

Then the light bulb when on. The Democrats were involved from the start and any legal proceedings against the telecom companies would not only expose W's law breaking but also expose thier own complicity. They knew it was going on from the start!! Now it all makes sense to me. How sad that our government has come to this. It is a definite win for bin Laden. I wonder when the secret police will start hauling people away in the middle of the night?

Original article: Hail and farewell

The meltdown might happen in November

While there may be unity at the convention there are still voters who will not vote for Obama. They are sitting out this election. I know because my mother, father, brother, sister and brother-in-law are not voting. They are all life-long democrats. We live in Pittsburgh, PA and I have to say I am worried that they represent alot of Pennsylvanians and PA might just got repulican this election. The only thing that would have appeased my family would have been Hillary as VP. They were starting to listen to my argument of vote democrat, or vote against McCain. Then the Obama VP pick happened and upset them all again. I will grudgingly vote for Obama and hope that he wins but I think he's going to lose.

Not a Political After thought

The democrats need to take Palin seriously. She has fired-up the republican base in a way they were not fired up by McCain. They will come out and vote now instead of sitting this one out. It was a smart choice by McCain. Not picking Hillary Clinton was a mistake by Obama that will cost him the election and we will all suffer through a McCain presidency. Our children and possibly their children will suffer the decisions of a conservative Supreme Court after McCain appoints at least 2 justices.
