Maybe carrying a hanky is the best idea. But of the two options mentioned, I like the paper towels over the blower. And there is one reason that the article doesn't mention. When one leaves the restroom, one often has to pull open a door to exit. So, after just washing my hands I have to touch this handle that everyone else has touched -- perhaps without washing THEIR hands. My hand will be dirtier than it was before washing! I like to take the towel and use it as an oven mit, thereby keeping my hand clean. You can't do that with a hot air blower.
Thanks for your psychoanalysis, Dr. Paglia. We should just put a turbine in front of you because you have enough wind to power a small county.
It seems to me that a lot of these comments are angry (and pouty) because -- supposedly -- Salon isn't pro-Obama enough. Jeez, if you want to read something that will only echo your own opinions, maybe you should GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Duh.
Maybe you should try Huffington Post (yes, in spite of that blogger with the sneaky microphone) or Andrew Sullivan. They can be counted on to give you all the Hillary hatin' you could ask for.
It seems by your snarky, angry comments that you don't like what this site has to say and yet HERE YOU ARE. You continue to spend your valuable time reading the articles and posting your screeds attacking them. Why?
Do you just need to let the world know of your superiority (and angry snark)? Do you just love to stay up at your computer, brows furrowed and lip bitten in righteous anger, to lash out at those who dare to disagree with you?
If you don't like this site then don't come here anymore. I don't think Joan, or anyone else, will miss you. Buh-bye!
When sometime last year Hillary Clinton said that if her Iraq vote was the most important consideration for voters, they could vote for somebody else. She didn't seem to have a real rival for the nomination at the time and her language was arrogant and dismissive. I was so peeved by that (and a few other things) that I wanted ANYONE else but her.
Then she started losing.
The anti-Clinton vitriol of the past few months has really left me disgusted. It's usually not about policy or "vision" but about personality and sexism. "C#nt, H#, B#tch" ... is this what passes for political debate?
As much as I was tired of both Hill and Bill, I feel like the this campaign is going where Ken Starr, Newt Gingrich, et al, couldn't quite reach and it makes me recoil. And it doesn't make me want to support anyone who benefits from it (i.e. Obama) even if he's not participating. (And some of the college fanatics remind me a lot of Students for a Democratic Society -- self-centered and self-righteous boy-men and girl-women who are angry at their parents generation and think a new world will come their way in January.)
It seems likely that Obama will be our next President. I wish him well but I'm anicipating a little schadenfreude when his supporters realize he's merely human.
First of all, yes, REALLY, getting shot down does not qualify one to be president. Or maybe we should just go to the local VA hospital to shop for all of our candidate needs. I mean, they've been hurt in war -- they MUST be qualified for public office!
And what's with all the angry ranters furiously writing in about the contempt in which they hold Joan Walsh? It's often the same people posting week in week out with some childish screed. I wonder why they keep coming back to read a blogger they don't much like and spend their valuable time repeating how much they don't much like her. A lab rat will learn to push one lever to get a treat and avoid the other lever that will give them a frightening noise. But these guys keep getting the horn and they don't like it one bit. And they're going to keep telling Joan just how they feel about her and that horn every time they come back! And oh they keep coming back! I think they can't wait until there's a new post just so they can respond with their oh-so-clever snark.
Really, if Americablog is so much better why not JUST GO THERE ALREADY? If one can't stand Joan Walsh's blog so much WHY KEEP READING THEM? Or is it just about makeing a show to be angry and righteous?
Of coure, one major difference between Joan and John Avarosis is that she will still let the ranters have their say. John will block posters he doesn't like. And Andrew Sullivan won't take any comments at all. I guess that means that she has more...uh guts, yeah, guts, than Johnny and Andy. That's why I don't go to their sites anymore -- they are in love with the sounds of their own voices and are afraid of dissent.
See, it's easy to avoid the things/people you don't like! Try it! (But I just know you're all gonna keep hitting the horn lever and complaing about what you get.)
I mean "making" not "makeing". Oops.
Before Biden gets tapped for the V.P. spot he should do something about those obvious hair plugs!
Hey Joe, there are better methods now. You can go back to your plastic surgeon (or get a new one) and have all those plugs smoothed out into something less conspicuous.
Political appeal, like it or not, often focuses on the superficial and symbolic. If a pol gets a little something done, he or she should at least get it done well.
