Wright was talking about 'blowback' which isn't controversial or anti-American at all.
People write papers, books, and articles on the subject in fact. I'm sure people in the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA learn about and discuss the topic. I assume they aren't called anti-American.
undoing EOs that Bush used?
out of Iraq. All of that sounds pretty progressive. If that's right of center it looks like we really are a center-right nation like the pundits keep saying.
would not = torture so whatever is being considered torture is not it.
appears to be a conscious attempt to agitate and pacify two different groups. Alinsky saw agitation as a way to get people off of their duffs and as we were told Obama is an Alinksy radical who studied and taught his methods. At the same time he's defusing fights with the center and the right.
That fits not only the Warren decision but the rest of what he's done.
I know that some folks think he's a centrist in liberal clothing who went to organize the people as some secret long running plan to appear like a liberal so that he could get elected to the Presidency but what if that theory is just wrong?
Hey Glenn: Read this article from Haaretz and you'll see the the government of Israel is intentionally allowing those Hamas rockets through.
That, coupled with the expansion of the settlements, shows that they don't really want to end the conflict at all. Though they did want to profit off of the conflict.

Serious question.
if it passes and Obama vetoes it then you'll have your answer. If not then you've probably witnessed some Alinsky agitation from the top.
Ok. So it's pretty clear that Obama doesn't believe in the Imperial Presidency so what's going on?
control America. The President merely does their bidding.
The only question I have, as an Obama supporter, is whether he knew that before he got there or found out quickly after he was in office.
Torture harms our efforts rather than helps them. How many times does this have to get pointed out? It's been pointed out so often that I think people advocating torture are just sadists.
it appears that they agree with him for the most part even when you don't.
That's an entirely different thing.
I read an argument that since CAT was not self-executing the DOJ has prosecutorial discretion in this matter. Any feelings about that argument?
Glenn,
I agree that President Obama's moves on civil liberties are the opposite of what he campaigned on. Clearly he's going to suffer politically for this and may even be a one-term president (unless he can pull off some miracles with health care and the economy gets better) but with regards to Guantanamo is it possible he's been forced to do this since Congress has refused to give any funding for moving detainees to the US?
"So now, we're going to have huge numbers of people who spent the last eight years vehemently opposing such ideas running around arguing that we're waging a War against Terrorism, a "War President" must have the power to indefinitely lock people away who allegedly pose a "threat to Americans" but haven't violated any laws, our normal court system can't be trusted to decide who is guilty, Terrorists don't deserve the same rights as Americans, the primary obligation of the President is to "keep us safe," and -- most of all -- anyone who objects to or disagrees with any of that is a leftist purist ideologue who doesn't really care about national security."
I like your posts in general but this constant claim that people are flopping to Obama's position when they held the opposite opinion when Bush was in office or the claim now that "vast numbers" of people are defending Obama now weakens your point unless you can prove it.
