You're not from New York...
If you were you would understand that Senator Clinton does not have wide support throughout the state, but simply support in Democratic Stronghold across the state, support that would likely waiver if a real challenge from a local politician arose.
It isn't a question of loseing her seat to a Republican. It's losing it to a Democrat in the Primary when her ability to strong arm rivals is significantly weakend.
The bottom line, if Senator Clinton were to hold on to a contested seat, she'd need a heck of a lot more than her husbands name to hold onto it. And she isn't going to have the luxury of going into republican strong holds to gain favor in the Democratic Primary.
Fortunatly for Senator Clinton of course, President Obama will likely campaign on her behalf in 2012, in order to maintain the Democratic Majority in Congress.
yep yep the more you say it the more true it becomes...
That's how Hillary is winning the popular vote too.
Fortunatly I hope Senator Clinton has a tighter grip on reality than some of her supporters...but time will tell.
You know, I used to be rational, I tried to speak with respect to the Hillarites on this board, but the more I did, the more I realized, you don't care about facts or reality, you care about reiterating the talking points of your messianic leader.
I'm sick of the tiptoeing around Senator Clinton and her followers.
To heck with you all, I say.
If you don't care about the popular vote or electability, then to heck with you.
Senator Obama is leading in all available metrics, and will be the nominee.
What happens to Senator Clinton is her own business, and if she is run out of town on a rail is not my concern, and if she goes on to another 20 years in the Senate it's not my concern.
I am just counting down the hours until the Super Delegates declare and Senator Clinton is given the option of leaving scene or campaigning for the nominee.
If you actually cared about facts you would argue them, but you don't you just wish to deride the chosen leader of the party and act as if yours are the only opinions that matter.
So what the hell. One day of campaigning left, and then the Delegates start declaring, and who knows maybe Senator Clinton gets all 200 votes she needs.
Not bloody likely, but who knows.
Let her fight it out like the sore loser her supporters are, it only hurts her.
I think she's smarter than that. But we'll have to see if she is.
But there is little point.
Those of us who live in reality know exactly how weak Hillary and her supporters arguments are.
Those who live in Hillary Land where numbers can mean anything you hope them to mean, will continue to apply their mathmatics and squint and hope that people will continue to humor them.
I'm just tired of it.
Have fun with your Candidate in the hours you have left while her the windmills still look like giants.
Eventually we all wake up from the dream and lucidity can be a harsh mistress.
But you can always blame sexism for your defeat, so at least you have that.
It just usualy is.
I went to Catholic School and had our Sex Ed class...(which was really a set of seminars over a week as part of our general health class).
It consisted of, 1) changes in your body 2) mechanics of sex 3) causes of pregnancy
That's it.
Sex is a very straight forward concept, do x you run the risk of pregnancy. Doing y won't cause pregnancy. Yes doing x even though you are simultaniously doing z may still result in pregnancy.
One advantage of going to Catholic School at least for me was that there wasn't a great deal of moralizing that went on in the sex ed class. That was saved for Morality class.
So in sex ed, we just learned all there is to know about sex and reproduction, and were left on our own.
Given our awarenss of the causes of pregnancy and STD's combined with our admonition against various folk remedies those of us that opted for sex used various methods of birth control available in the 80's and 90's.
Now, I can assume that telling kids about condoms expressly is beneficial, but for those that would rather let Trojan do it's own advertising, I can imagine that a direct facts based sex ed class woudl be sufficient.
Obviously, there are a lot of sex ed classes that focus on fear and self loathing, and that is pretty lame, but like non-abstinence based sex ed classes, there is a panoply of options, and perhaps what is best is to discuss what is best in a class, and not what classifications of classes are inherintly unhelpful.
And then only on the convetnion floor.
Fortunatly it's not Clinton who acceptance that's important.
She will go, she will fight, she will lose, and no one will blame Barak for not making her a part of his administration.
His chances may or may not be hurt by all this, but at the end of the day in November Senator Clinton's name (likely) won't be on the ballot.
And people will make their choices.
Barak will continue to be respectful and admiring of this woman throughout her mental breakdown, but the media, and the people will understand that her way lies madness, and self distruction, and although there will be a number of Hixiecrats who bolt the Democratic Party for the Republicans. They will be the minority, and we'll all be done with them.
