This is for more believable and based in reality than anything the Birthers have put forward.
that should believes Mr. Obama is not a citizen, not disbeleives.
Also, it's Stephen Colbert, not Colber, darn silent t's.
What was the sample, how was it weigted, etc.
Unless Obama's mother was not a citizen, Obama's citizenship is not in doubt, so I highly doubt any one actually disbelieves the man is not a citizen.
The Birthers (assuming as Stephen Colber says Obama was birthed)argument stems from a flawed understanding of the constitution and an assumption that one has to be born in the U.S. to run for president. Simply put, a Kenyen Birth Certificate that listed Obama's mother as a U.S citizen would likewise ensure that Obama was a Natural Born Citizen of the U.S.
Even the most ardent Birthers do not hold that President Obama is not a citizen, they simply think he was born outside of the U.S. (like John McCain) to an American Citizen. They think that disqualifies him for the presidency, it does not.
Annecdotally I doubt you could find a desease that hasn't been cured by prayer. From the common cold to inoperable cancer, prayer has at one time or another annecdotally resulted in the a cure.
Unfortunatly, prayer only works annecdotally, when put into a study, prayer ends up working fairly poorly at curing any of the deseases that annecdotally it cured.
I don't doubt that colon cleansing, herbal supliments, and various other treatments have worked annecdotally, much in the same way that prayer has. However, like prayer, these treatments have been studied, and have failed.
Remember, the U.S. is really one of the only strictly for profit health care systems in the world. If a $10 treatment could provide the cures people claim consistently, well then the cost concious public health plans of the world would certainly embrace them.
Some modern medicines are not as efficatious as implied, that however does nothing to increase the efficatiousness of alternative and ancient medicines.
You know, to be a natural born citizen as defined by the courts and laws that have been on the books since the 1800's, all one has to be is the child of an American Citizen.
As such being born abroad doesn't effect your ability to run for president, merely the citizenship status of your parents. Yes if you are born in the U.S. to immigrant parents you are also a Natural Born American Citizen, but it is only naturalized citizens who are barred from office.
Are they somehow suggesting that Barak Obama's mother isn't his mother? or that perhaps she was not a citizen?
Really Obama could have been born in Kenya and he'd still be a natural born American Citizen, he could have been born in Hawaii when it was still a territory and he'd still be an American citizen. So long as one parent is an American Citizen, the child produced by that union is an American Citizen as well.
It's fine if you want to question where Obama was born. There's a great deal of evidence it was Hawaii, but there are people how doubt the moon landing too, and think aliens crash landed in Roswell. Ocasionally they will get a few congressmen to join them as well. But you would think that if you were going to make this argument, it would at least have to be based on the law, which states unequivically that Obama is a Natural Born American Citizen.
He's just another joe trying to make a living at the ink and paper game.
Don't hate on him.
These are women who made a living off their bodies primarily and their talent secondarily.
As with the Great Peggy Lee, once the Body goes, you change the way you dress, and you focus more on your music in smaller venues.
See, if you want to be the perpetual poptart you have to expect that people will shame you for your lack of tartiness.
If you want to be a singer, you just sing, and understand that the crowds to hear you sing are smaller, but more appreciative.
If your act is to writh on the floor seductivly, eventually that will no longer be an option for you, at least not as a stadium act.
Brit's Fat, Madonna's Old. If you think they are great artists, then these facts are irrelevant, if you think they were the flavor of the month, then these facts are all that matters.
Now, if someone makes fun of a female politicians wieght or hair, that's low, but for these women, it's part of the show.
You are correct we can certainly afford to cover every man woman and child in the U.S. and offer them spectacular coverage as well.
There is a law of unintended consequences however. Everything from bankrupting other countries health systems, to depleteing our military strength.
In our democracy we make these choices based on political will and slow moving procedures. We can have universal health care if we all want it. But we all have to want it, and in truth, there is a large number of people who don't.
Be it because they don't know any better, or they like the system they have, or fear what they do not know.
As with anything it is a balance between competeing issues. We'll get something. Not single payer, but for people who spit at the ground and feel betrayed by that, well you're in the minority. If everyone agreed with you, that's just what we'd have. But likely a lot of other things in this nation would be different as well.
