For all those letter writers who want to make the arguement that the "transformation" religious conversion affords is a good thing, go back and read the article. The brownshirts in the weimar republic found plenty of "meaning and direction" in their lives when they signed up as i'm sure the folks in the mahdi army are also enjoying a new found sense of pride and purpose.
