Full Disclosure: George Frost has contributed to Clinton's campaign

He has contributed at least $250 to Clinton's campaign this year, according to my quick yet stellar research. I am not sure why I clicked on this article, but I definitely know why I am no longer paying for a Salon subscription. I'll just go back to reading Glenn Greenwald until he abandons this site. I am sorry for sounding rude, but this is one of the worst, unsubstantiated articles I have ever read (and no, this is not an attack on HRC--it's a comment about Frost's biased writing).

Expectations

I expect to hear Chris Matthews arrogantly explain once again why he is an expert on Pennsylvania in his annoying nasal voice while Keith Olberman politely tolerates him.

Airplane Improvements

1) Mandatory showers before boarding for people who have excessive body odor due to poor personal hygiene.

2) When the emergency procedures are announced, a courtesy "Please respect your neighbor's desire to sleep/read/zone out" reminder.

3) Slightly wider seats and some sort of guideline on how to divvy up the tiny armrests.

4) Distribution of water bottles before takeoff.

5) In-flight parenting classes.

6) Meals served on the schedule of the destination's timezone, rather than the departing timezone (for transcontinental flights).

7) Flight attendants who do not repeatedly poke passengers to wake them up for poorly timed meals.

I miss the old days when Delta distributed travel bags and flight attendants actually seemed interested in working. The others who have mentioned the difference between domestic and international airlines are so correct. My experiences with European and Asian airlines have all been pleasant. British Airways is great--I once bought a very cheap coach ticket (they have their own charming names for the different seating classes) and got bumped up to business class. It was the best flight of my life. Mushroom risotto, an almost fully reclining seat, and a video screen that was thoughtfully placed. But the second best flight of my life was in coach to Tokyo on Japan Airlines. The attendants let me sleep, and the weekday flight was so barren that I had my own row. I slept the entire way.

For those searching for tips about how to fly more comfortably: the most important thing is to buy one of those U-shaped pillows. The expensive fuzzy one from Brookstone is so fluffy and comfortable that you will sink right into it and never want to wake up. You can comfortably lean your head to either side without intruding on your neighbor. Bring your own travel blanket as well. Also, buy an overpriced bottle of water once you have gotten through security. You'll be glad once you get on the plane and you wait for an hour or more for beverage service. The best thing for your ears is citrus candy drops. Better than gum--will keep your ears unclogged. If you are traveling internationally, try to stay up all night before you depart. You'll be exhausted, and then take an over-the-counter sleeping pill as soon as you board the plane. Then if you have one of those comfortable pillows, you should be able to sleep. Also take thick socks and flip-flops so that you can remove your shoes, and get up to stretch if you are awake at any point. Really stretch--several minutes--then go back to sleep. This will help you to avoid jetlag. Also, as much as people love the alcohol on flights, don't overdo it. One drink at the most, or you will feel dehydrated. Put moisturizer on your face, and brush your teeth before you go to sleep (and again when it is morning at your destination). Don't stay awake to watch the bad movies. Headphones will tune out your neighbors, and one more suggestion: I travel with a fanny pack to keep everything that I need close at hand (antibacterial gel and/or hand wipes, citrus drops, travel toothbrush/toothpaste, identification, cash and cards, a pen, etc.) If you are really anxious about flying, you could also include a pocket-sized emergency blanket and hand warmers in case of emergency. You won't need them, but you will feel better about how you will handle the remote possibility of a plane crash.
