Yes, Wilber lapses into New Age mush...

As a practitioner of Zen myself, with an engineering background, I beg to differ when Steve Paulson states, "[Wilber's] 'integral philosophy,' along with the Integral Institute he's founded, hold out the promise that we can understand mystical experience without lapsing into New Age mush."

All you have to do is head on over to http://www.kenwilber.com, and follow links there, especially his blog, to see that the man is not as billed..

First there's the jargon. Jean-Paul Sartre had more accessible jargon. And no, it's not because Wilber's "enlightened." You can find any number of "enlightened" people who are more clear at expressing the ineffable without pointless, vaporous jargon. Secondly, despite whatever was written in the Salon article, Wilber's grasp of science is odd, to say the least (see http://kenwilber.com/blog/show/390) for example. Scientists work in the realm of the observable; and explanations are in terms of phenomena. Wilber does not seem to grasp these basic ideas of scientific inquiry.

I won't comment on his spirituality, though from his website it seems he does have very nice living quarters (http://kenwilber.com/blog/show/365) .

My Honda Civic does better than your Smart Car

11 years old, bald tires, tuned up, it gets 29-30 MPG. Sure, not the 40 or so touted, but it can acclerate.

And it takes off like a bunny.

They've had Smart Cars in Japan for years- the Civic used to be the size of a Smart Car (c. 1972). And in '72 the Civic had a lot of pep.

Actually, Myers *is* pretty famous

It's Giberson to whom we respond, "Who the hell is he?"

But seriously, the big, big problem, of which Myers' attackers is only a symptom, is that Christianity has failed to meet any need without some moral compromise; even Mother Theresa at heart was motivated by greed and a distorted view of humanity.

And so it is with Catholicism; they care more about a cracker than sexually and physically abused children.

And, yes, the shit that went on in every Catholic school *was* not only physical abuse, it was felonious assault by any other name.

Original article: Fresh blood for the vampire

Molly Ivins was right about Paglia

"[T]he sweeping

generalization is her signature. In fact, her work

consists of damn little else. She is the queen of the categorical

statement."

Paglia's self-absorbed, and it's no surprise she finds a kindred spirit in Palin.

Was this former "strategist" involved in serious crimes?

I know that question is being asked in various places in cyberspace; I don't know if there's any proof to any of that.

I probably don't think that this "strategist" committed rape and murder.

But I have to admit I haven't seen proof to the contrary.

And we haven't had a denial yet from him.

So until this is cleared up I would think the Republican party would be more circumspect.

Of course these questions might be being asked by parody sites, but the questions remain just that.
