THE STUPID POLLS, NOT KEEPING YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE, AND WHITE FOLKS IN SMALL TOWNS
Folks, Barack is behind McCain in the average of the NATIONAL polls due to the OUTLIER GALLUP POLL taken right after the Republican convention. It's McCain's bounce so calm down. The state polls are what counts the most and if everything holds today, Barack will be the next President of the United States. Sure, the excitement has been transferred to McCain's running mate, but she's being found out. Every day people are discovering that her knowledge of the would is about as shallow as a cup of tea. The debates will matter.
But ads matter too. Most low-information white voters aren't stupid. But someone must effectively communicate what Bush/McCain has negatively affected their lives during the last eight years, and what Barack plans to do about it. Barack has one of the greatest pitches EVER. TAX CUTS FOR EVERYONE, but the rich. McCain has convinced some poor whites that Baracks gonna send their hard earned dollars to the negras. Barack should be on the television everyday talking TAX CUTS and WAR and how those cuts will be paid for by ending the war in IRAQ, or he will lose. He will not get their vote by simply saying McCain=Bush.
FINALLY, LET ME ADDRESS THE WHITE DEMOCRATS THAT STILL THINK THAT BLACKS OUGHT TO WAIT THEIR TURN AND LET THE WHITE PEOPLE RUN THE PARTY AND THE COUNTRY
No, we too are Americans. Deal with it. Blacks cannot wait for equality and to FULLY participate in this democracy because of some timid white so-called progressives are afraid that the country white folks won't vote for one of us cullerds. I want Americans to see two men (or women) side by side in the debates and judge for themselves whether or not their ideas, beliefs, and records reflect their goals and dreams for this country. It's ok for America to vote for McCain. He will take us into war, and those small towners' children will be the majority of the folks putting boots on the ground in take your pick (Iran, Russia, North Korea).
Did Bill Clinton receive the majority of this small-town American vote? Nah, he didn't.
Whoa.
People voted for Obama because they agree with him. Unlike Hillary, he felt universal mandatory healthcare for everyone is just unrealistic. Most people agree with position. People voted for him because they didn't want to go through the whole Whitewater-Pardongate-Monicagate-Whitehouse Travelgate BS all over again. Her candidacy would have had different challenges, but challenges nonetheless.
McCain did Barack a favor. He has taken experience "off-the-table" with the Palin pick. McCain has served up the "judgement" issue to Barack's campaign on a silver platter. Its up to the Obama campaign to effectively take advantage of this. This week's PANIC by the Democrats has driven the polls. The repeated stories about Obama needs to get mad have depressed some of the polls. Dems are so used to playing defense, we have forgotten how to play offense. Shame.
Gas prices are going up. Palin's saber-rattling at RUSSIA, of all of the country's in the world, has shaken most sane people to the core. Her willingness to sign on to the Bush Doctrine, yet her lack of understanding of it, is fair game. Alaska, the WELFARE STATE, is also fair game. MAVERICK, MY ASS.
Yes, the Obama campaign was caught off guard and slow to respond (I'm not happy about this), but this is no reason to dismiss a fine candidate because of his inability to REACH OUT TO THE REPUBLICAN BASE. These folks have been voting Republican for more than four election cycles. They are Republicans. McCain has Republicans excited about his candidacy for the first time all year. Let's hope the Obama campaign changes that in the next two weeks.
For all of McCain's vaunted experience, he still doesn't know a damn thing about the economy. What good is your 26 years in the Senate if you don't know anything about the economy?
McCain is desperate. As my late beloved mother would say, some of you folks are "dazzled by bullshit". McCain talks about the surge, but he was and is still wrong about IRAQ. Hell, even George Bush agrees with Barack Obama's commitment to a withdrawal timetable. When you Hillary honks were calling Barack naive for suggesting that we go into Pakistan and attack Al-Quieda if Pakistan failed to act, George Bush was doing exactly that. That's intelligence folks. No, not experience, but someone damn knowledgeable about the big picture.
John McCain has to lie about his record and his VPs record to win this thing. That tells me that the Republicans have a lot to worry about. No Dem was going to have a cakewalk to the Whitehouse despite what the pundits in the media would have you to think. The electorate, for the most part, is split. I agree with others who say Barack has to roll up his sleeves and go into the diners. He has to come out swinging in the debates and he has to have SHARPER AND CRISPER ads explaining what he will do for Americans (TAX CUTS AND LESS WAR)too. Look if you timid Democrats want to attract more bigots to the party, count me, and I strongly suspect, lots of other blacks out. I'm perfectly willing not to vote for another Dem Presidential candidate. Did Bill Clinton win a huge majority when he first ran for the Presidency? Nah, he didn't.
I'm registering voters tomorrow.

Is this a woman white women can rally around???? Are conservatives ok with this? Why should citizens pay for evidence collection? Is this a preview of the "small government" reforms we can expect from a McCain/Palin administration??
I love Barack's new ad. He's right there in your face talking about "change being more than a slogan". This is a good start.
