  • Barack makes sense, that's all

Just like an anonymous poster below, I'm also not affiliated to any political party.

Barack simply makes sense to me, he obviously loves this country, and hates - as we all do - to see its potential wasted away by a body politics that has become much too removed from citizens. He is willing to challenge the status quo, and does so brilliantly. He intimately understands the system he is up against, which is why he has a chance to defeat it.

I appreciate his effort at mobilizing individuals of all walks of life, all parts of the country, all ages, all ethnicities. His campaign is modern, inclusive, ambitious, and competent - an image of the country we ought to be.

For the first time in my life (female, 51 here), I canvassed my neighborhood this week-end on behalf of Barack's campaign. It was fun talking to all the neighbors, all ages, parents and kids, all ethnicities, in this red part of Western Maryland. Very few undecideds left, everyone I spoke to has comfortably shifted to Barack.

I don't know where some folks get the idea that Barack's supporters lack reason, wisdom or judgement. We're all pretty average people, minding our own lives the best we can, and basically hoping for a better future for the country, and the world. We believe Barack can best deliver that promise, with our active participation, the citizens of this country.

Should Barack not be nominated, I and my entire family, will simply stay home come Nov. Either Mc Cain or Clinton would probably make fine Presidents, but being part and parcel of the (broken) system, they simply lack the ability to take this country, and the world, to the required next level. We would continue to stagnate, and deteriorate, instead of innovating and moving forward.

    Hi-

Thanks, voting Green is certainly a possibility, depending on the candidate of course. I'd definitely take a close look, and if that person makes sense to me, I'd vote for him/her.

As for being "accused of throwing away my vote", I doubt I'll hear that from anyone whose opinion matters to me.

Although a political junkie, I don't actually get involved unless I feel rather strongly about a candidate, who I feel truly wants to bring about systemic change.

Maybe that comes from growing-up in a dictatorship. As an independent, I'm not even voting in the primaries. I couldn't bring myself to register as D, even for my man Barack.

    This woman is offensive.

  • Flawed, very flawed, extrapolation

[Read the article: Americans more ready for a black president than a woman?]

Americans could be "more ready" for THIS Black President than THIS woman, dear.

Simple as that. But trust Joan Walsh (sigh) to turn the specific into the generic so as to obscure and minimize the failures/inadequacies of her candidate and, by the same token, Barack's amazing achievements in this campaign.

Joan offered the same unconvincing "analysis" on CNN the other day.

Roland Martin only had a mn to point to Limbaugh's "black face" skit, which Joan had conveniently omitted in her litany of sexist offenses against her candidate. Martin reasonably added that the public is quite familiar with Madame Clinton, thank you very much, and that there might be some baggage there we'd rather leave alone. He didn't have time to go into the nutty antics of her campaign that might turn people off (the endless lying and manipulation about herself, about her experience, about Barack, good grief).

I guess Joan Walsh feels more comfortable disparaging the American people (we are more sexist than we are racist, hey) than coming to terms with the fiasco that is her candidate's campaign, and the flaws in her own world view.

Oh, and please let's no go into how offensive it is for us all women of a certain age, especially brown skinned ones like me, to come here to be tragically lectured by Joan Walsh about how we are more sexist than racist, stupid us, just because we support Barack. Sure Joan, we are the stupid ones.

  • Melt down

[Read the article: Thank you, Rush Limbaugh!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Joan Walsh (sigh) seems to be having a brain freeze type of melt-down, to parallel that of her candidate and her campaign. They seem fixated on the notion that we, the American people, are more sexist than we are racist. How about that for an indictment of us and Barack?

Basically, Clinton et al. are telling us that we are dumb freaks, and Barack can't possibly be a superior candidate, nope, that isn't conceivable. In return, we are free to think what we will about THAT particularly sordid attitude, Salon.

Honestly, I never heard of Maggie, Indira, Golda, Benazir (Muslim land!), Bachelet, the President of Liberia or the French woman who ran for President last year EVER playing the "gender card", ever. And some of these countries aren't particularly enlightened about women, right? Somebody correct me if you know otherwise, but I don't think so. Did Clinton (forget Joan) even study the paths followed by these amazing women???

Like them or not politically, those true trailblazing women ran and won on the strength of their work and character - period - none of this nauseating victimization stuff we're getting from La Clinton and the oh so tragically self-involved Joan Walsh (sigh).

Get a grip, woman. Salon existed before you ever showed-up with your divisive agenda, and it will remain long after you're gone. Hell, it might even elevate itself back to some proper level of quality then, here is hoping.
