Aside from outrage at the "God damn gun", Matthews didn't do his homework and let this nut sound like he was reasonable. And was very respectful and deferential. If he had had access to this information, the interview would have been much different, and in my opinion, shouldn't have been an interview at all...but a denouncement. But MSNBC and Matthews were too quick on the draw for the "story" and the sensationalism.
I saw the interview, and Kostric evoked people of New Hampshire so many times that I just assumed he was actually from there...and probably many generations. He's from Arizona, and I'd bet the son of immigrants with no grasp of or affinity or claim to men like Thomas Jefferson. Just an attention-seeking nut who sees himself as a soldier for some nebulous concept of freedom in order to feel important.
And the worst info that I saw last night was the fact that Timothy McVeigh was captured wearing a tee shirt with the same Jefferson quote. Kostrick was dangerous and should have been ttreated so. The very fact that he was allowed at a presidential event with a gun is testimony to the lengths we will go to let people be "free"
These people are crazies, and no serious journalist should give them a national news platform. They are corrupting our political process in a way that is just as damaging as anything in Washington they say they are protesting.
So Callista and Newt will run for president together if the world needs them. So GOP of him. Self-sacrificing Saint Newt.
