No one, no matter how strong their motives

no one can reasonably paint Lieberman as other than he is. A self-serving, oportunitistic quisling...

and to claim that outcome number one would be for Lieberman to quit and go home is

nothing short of laughable to anyone who has watched him for the past number of years. They will have to pry his position and his honorariums from his cold dead hands. One really does have to wonder why he has such a death grip. And why he can get away with the most heinous words and deeds. (Bayh's story that he had to chide Lieberman for saying Obama wanted defeat in Iraq)

Nice job, Rachel. But Bayh...tsk, tsk.

We're all still chanting "yes we can", but when you turn around and look who's backing us up...they're clearing their throats and heading for the buffet.

Ah cynicism. Back again. So soon.

Original article: Obama, McCain to meet

@Marianna

McCain's record with regard to the veterans is abysmal! He voted against taking care of them, against giving them raises, against giving them proper equipment. And he voted against the 21st Century GI Bill.

McCain is a disgrace. The fact that he wore a uniform doesn't make him pro vets. He got elite treatment because of his father and grandfather. He does NOT understand veterans who are being turned into the street with PTSD, and he does not understand their families, some of whom have lost everything for their service.

He was a spoiled officer who managed to get shot down, and has proven every day that he has been in the Senate that he doesn't believe our people in uniform are entitled to our help and support. He understands very well that he is entitled because of his POW status. But he declines to extend his entitlement to those who served.

While contractors were getting rich, our men and women were going without the basics. They were waiting months for medical treatment and being treated in mold and vermin infested hospitals, when they were treated at all.

Do some research. McCain is an abuser of veteran's sacrifices. He has helped George Bush make their friends rich through the war in Iraq on the backs of the ill-used and ill-served military.

There is a reason why military contributions to the campaign were 6-1 in favor of Obama. And why there were hordes of Veteran's organizations campaigning against McCain and the Republicans.

Original article: Let them eat quail

A fitting repast for a summit

on the global financial meltdown.

Although, maybe creamed chipped beef on toast and root beer.......

Original article: Let them eat quail

I'm thinking

quail on the menu is probably how Cheney writes off his hunting trips.

I thought Alaska

required a special election and she didn't have the power to appoint herself, or anyone else.

If she did, seems to me it would be Sarah jamming herself through the crack in the door, and not God dragging her into the Senate.

Just out of curiosity

Isn't there a poll somewhere regarding what people think of Lieberman? (our people, not Republicans) I saw the devastating indictment by the voters of his state, but haven't seen anything broader.

Everyone I know wants Lieberman's blood, and is furious that Reid and the rest of the gang seem to be clinging to him like a moth-eaten WWII parachute at a yard sale.

We're all out here. Aren't there some stats to shut these people up?

Hamsher, among others have put out petitions in favor of losing Lieberman, and accounts of people calling their senator's office have shown that they are in the VAST majority of an avalanche of calls demanding that Lieberman go. Where is the reporting of this grassroots outrage and pronouncement on Lieberman's future?

Maybe we lack subltey, or political nuance. But we know when something is in the advanced stages of decomposition in matters of ethics, loyalty and every other measurement that makes a friend a friend, and a weasel an outcast.

Retreads

Rudy, Newt, Sarah. If that's all they've got, the Republican rubber is never again in my lifetime gonna meet the road.

And while I'm at it...it's time we pried the power of congress out of the semi-cold practically dead hands of doddering old 80 and 90-somethings who hold some of the most influential and progress-adverse positions in our government. Nothing against age, mind you, I'm old myself. But a little fresh air in the mausoleum is only as good as its ability to match or exceed the stench of rotting old policies. Change isn't going to come when the chair of the transportation committee is in his mid 80's. Hybrids? Fuel efficiency? We have people who are still in awe that Henry Ford banished the horse and buggy. Whoa. One step at a time.

Thank goodness

I don't want all those religious wackos loitering in my stores anyway.

I once worked for the world's largest book company, and it segmented its list with a raft of special interest book clubs. One of them was the Christian Bookclub. It's members wrote reams of nasty letters and e-mails demanding that we not sell Disney books and plenty of others.

They were vicious in their pursuit of limiting everyone else's choices.

But, here it comes....they bought little, and they didn't pay their bills. Of all the company's clubs, members of the Christian Bookclub were the most likely to default on their bill. True story. Who could make that up.

So don't worry ye stores of Christmas insufficiency...all the howlers won't spend any money with you anyway.

I also worked for a couple of major catalogers, too, and it's a thin line between Holiday and Christmas. The trick is to be all inclusive. But clearly, Dobson doesn't see it that way. Wait 'til I tell my son the agnostic that because he doesn't worship God, he can't have Santa Clause either.

Another one bites the dust

No need to take these people down, they're avid do-it-yourselfers.

Huckabee's Christian gibberish juxtaposed with his whining and snarky comments is priceless right-wing evangelical hypocrisy. Sorry Mitt, your religious cult just isn't as bitchy as Mike's. Therefore, you lose.
