I don't know what a couple of you are talking about, but the e-mail I got from Hamsher had a phone number and a petition link, to protest the Lieberman extortion circus...I shared them in a previous post here. And I hope everyone who reads this will make their feelings known to the powers that have the powers.
The message was that they are on the path to placating Lieberman. Rattle sabers, shake shaman bones and invoke ire. Then get together over cigars and brandy to save Lieberman. As one TV pundit described it: "they like him. Even if he did some bad things, they really personally like the guy". I shouldn't blog while eating dinner, I'm about to lose it.
The wounds suffered to the what John McCain blasphemously referred to as "the fabric of Democracy" in the ACORN fluff, are deep festering sores on the Constitution, civil rights and the confidence and expectations of all Americans...which the Bush administration has inflicted deliberately and systematically for the past 8 years. THEY have rent the fabric of Democracy almost beyond redemption.
Yes we need to move on. But yelps to move on are coming from those who have something to fear by finally having the light shined on the dark recesses of the actions of Bush and his cronies. It may be years (if ever) until we know the full extent of it. Can you hear the shredders humming?
They spent two years harping on an irrelevant relationship of Obama to someone who did something despicable when the candidate was 8 years old.
And now they are snarling that we need to get over the horrible deeds and policies that have wrecked this nation and destroyed our global reputation and the legacies of hope and prosperity we have worked for in the names of our children and grandchildren.
If we simply move on...they are already positioning themselves to be on target to do it again.
No one should be pardoned for the atrocities (yes atrocities!) of this administration and its enablers. Nothing should get swept under Bush's "optimistic person comes to work here" rug.
This nation will NOT heal until all those who dug into their pockets, manned the phones and took the the streets, and all those who made the choice for change in the voting booth are honored with a full accounting of the past. No free passes.
Can we still move forward with investigations going on in a couple dozen rooms on Capital Hill? YES.
Democrats, Progressives and Barack Obama (along with all those other disenfranchised categories that finally "got it") can walk and chew gum at the same time.
You betcha!
Since the election, she's been on every major network hawking her ambitions and trashing the press, and subly, her handling. She has repeatedly says she'll "plough through the door", ask the lord, grab what she can, and that she is definitely campaigning all on her own for 2012.
Suddenly it's not about 2012, and it's all about the team, and the Governors.
Someone told her to shut up. But had to give her a little podium so it wouldn't be obvious.
masquerading as an intellectual.
Reagan. Atwater. Yes, if only we had Bonzo and the Barracuda back!
None of what they are saying is really about actual intellectual, ethical and practical wielding of political power.
It was then, is now, all about winning. On his death bed Lee Atwater repented and denounced his scorched earth tactics. Reagan's winning policies are at long last bringing us down, and they weren't even his.
Bush's "faith based" genius plan was about feeding his base. It was fraught with corruption and after eight years of his good stewardship on education, our schools are in appalling shape and our children rank lower educationally than those in what we consider third-world countries.
Don't give these Republican windbags a platform to paint over their decayed surface with a shiny new veneer of introspection and retooling.
The only work they will do is to try to figure out how to "put one over" ond more expansive demographics than their current Southern "make those bad girls have babies and then don't give them food stamps" "Christians."
It's painful reading the strategies of Republican zealots trying to figure out not how to do the right thing, but how to win.
White people like John McCain?
That's why hordes of us poured into black neighborhoods to register people, and then went back to tirelessly and aggressively get out the vote. I've knocked on doors in condemned hurricane ghettos, and proudly came away clutching registration forms. My friend in Tennessee spent every spare moment cruising neighborhoods with a bull horn to register and take people to the polls.
Lots of white people got lots of black people to the polls to vote for Obama. That's what we do....because we are everybody's party. And we like McCain?
By contrast two schools in Philadelphia had hate messages show up regarding our new President. And there you are, with you pathetic headline and overline feeding racial divides.
I have always thought you were a smug, superficial smartass simpleton. (and a closet conservative) I have been very happy to see you gone so frequently. And yet,you keep coming back.
How dare you!!!
What the hell is your problem?
...what presumably is supposed?
