  • Being a one trick pony doesn't qualify McCain

[Read the article: McCain camp debuts new Web ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

for anything other than bragging rights at the local VFW. And hopefully that's where he'll end up. Where you can lunch on being a POW for the rest of your life, and whatever else you have done or have not done doesn't matter. Don't get me wrong, he deserves respect for his service.

However, unfortunately for us...it matters a lot who else John McCain is. Let's hope all those folks who voted W in for his manure kickin' ways (sans cattle)don't think McCain's war mongering history is reason enough to reward him with the responsibility for our already jeopardized future.

For the record, my ancestors have fought in every war since the Revolution, too. Yet, somehow, I don't think that qualifies me for the oval office. Then again, my family comes from working class soldiers, not General Washington's staff and West Pointers. And therein lies an important political distinction. It's the difference between cannon fodder and gentlemen. Right now we need a leader who identifies more with the cannon fodder we are sending to Iraq, than with his own elite military history, POW status notwithstanding.

  • Steve, great job

[Read the article: Passing back the baton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Many thanks and kudos...and a boohoo.

  • Finally

[Read the article: John McCain's serious foreign policy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I know it's not intellectual gold, but thank goodness someone mentioned "the smirk". Everytime I see John McCain, he has that same smarmy, snarky, look-at-me-I-made-a-poo-by-myself look that is George W. Bush's hallmark. Nothing McCain says scares me even half as much as that look.

Thanks Glenn for letting me know I'm not nuts. It's there. It's sinister and it bodes BAD.

  • This isn't about feminism

[Read the article: Miley Cyrus: Daddy's little hurl]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Or about Cyrus riding his daughter's abbreviated coattails.

It's about a 15-year old being vamped out in Vanity Fair magazine.

And, Ms. Traister, it doesn't matter that we do it all over the place. That's not an excuse. It's another disgraceful symptom of the sexualization of America's girls.

We're arresting people for marrying off 14-year-olds in a religious cult, but it's ok if similar pimping is done in a slick magazine or in the context of infotainment, or on the toy store shelves as slutty role models for 12-year-olds.

What the hell is wrong with some of you people?

  • Pure intellectualized and under-intelligenced gibberish.

[Read the article: Wright's theology not "new or radical"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That's the trouble with academics. Their job is to put a "scrabble word score" spin on everything without getting at the gut root of anything.

No one should be making excuses for Wright's racist views and rabid divisiveness under the guise of academic theory. It's that simple. His is the gospel of hate.

And that silly smirk as he made his grossly unprofessional and cartoonish capering was eerily familiar. Can you see me now? Did ya hear that, mom? Am I a clever boy or what? It was pure GW. Narcissistic jerks come in all flavors.

  • The problem with blaming the generals is that

[Read the article: Rumsfeld blamed generals for lack of forces in postwar Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

every time a commander dared to say we needed more troops, or that things weren't going spankingly, he was forced out and replaced with someone who would toe the administration line.

You don't need any more troops do you? I mean it's totally up to you. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

I don't pity all the brass that's going to be thrown under the bus by Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush now that they've sold out their souls and their troops to give the answers those Washington nitwits wanted.

Implicit in the question every time was: give the right answer or we'll give you the boot. If you want to stay a leader...do as you're told.

Rumsfeld micromanaged this whole fiasco. The very idea that he thinks anyone will buy his finger-pointing now, only serves to confirm his insanity.

  • Golf....quite a sacrifice

[Read the article: The president's great sacrifice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...for a man who refuses to support a 21st Century GI Bill.

Maybe that's what he thinks about everytime he refuses to support higher pay, better medical care and education for them. The ultimate sacrifice he, himself is making on their behalf.

    It should be enough.

    Jackass.

  • How does McCain intend to say thanks....

[Read the article: Senate passes expanded GI bill despite Bush, McCain opposition]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Unlike Senator Obama, my admiration, respect and deep gratitude for America's veterans is something more than a convenient campaign pledge."

Since when is taking care of our Vets, and giving them the educations we have told them they will get, tantamount to a convenient campaign pledge?

McCain has taken a very good ride on his own military service. It is outrageous that he would be so unsupportive of benefits for vets. And you can bet the concept that education will interfere with efforts to keep the troops in bondage is the position of draft-dodging administration war mongers.

The fact that McCain has joined them is proof that he must have sold his soul to the devil to get this far.

The fact that he is willing to pursue the job of commander-in-chief on the backs of his fellow service personnel is just plain despicable.

And the fact that he is willing to blow smoke this noxious when he is called on it...well...let's just say he is extraordinarily unfit for duty.

  • The Fox News culture

[Read the article: Fox News responds]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    ...or lack thereof.

Unfortunately, Fox has created a culture of smear and jeer that gave a producer the environment in which he or she could feel that the "Obama's Baby Momma" chyron was "cute".

It's like a parent claiming their errant child's behavior is no reflection on them.
