There are pluses on either side of the Democratic primary outcome. I don't view either candidate as unsupportable or unelectible. And given the close race, most democrats have made a tough decision about who to support and many still aren't sure.
Edward's endorsement carries a lot of weight...all those loyal Democrats who are still firmly rooted in his vest pocket. He has to make a measured and thoughtful choice. And it's not a really obvious choice. To characterize his thoughtfulness as some kind of "play" is grossly unfair.
He was, is, and always will be an honest man of undeniable integrity. I'm glad he's doing all the weighing and measuring. He cares about the outcome.
I can do without the mug.
The nice thing about the past was the lack of all the "names" we associated with discourse having to be converted to faces. I can get talking heads on TV. I read Salon for the WORDS, and seeing them come out of someone's mouth just takes all the fun out of it. I like the journalistic "feel" of words associated with a by-line, not a personality. If you know what I mean.
Having said that...I'll just go read a book or something.
to "help" Congress get its work done in lieu of their vacation??? Now THAT's a political stunt.
The pot doesn't get much blacker than that, said the kettle.
Regarding David Broder's notion of partisanship (acquiescence of Democrats to Republican and the "leader's" wishes)and all the instances of Democratic cave-ins of late, and emphasis on nonsense while our basic freedoms and foundations of our government are kicked to the curb....
What do they know that we don't?
and his superhawk comments like being in Iraq for 100 years would suit him just fine...how can he dare try going toe-to-toe with Obama on Iraq?
Can't wait til McCain hoots "bring it on!" just like Cowboy G.
the three inch heels.
Here in Philly at the Fox affiliate, the anchor was being placed on a stool, full body shot, in a short skirt. Which meant...well...you figure it out.
Lately I see she isn't on the stool. I'm thinking people were seeing more than they needed to. Or at least trying to.
Nevertheless, it's easy to see what Fox considers women's roles in journalism.
Say cheese....cake.
to say that Code Pink doesn't represent the best of activism pertaining to the war in Iraq. In fact, I have made it a point to avoid the kind of screaming, in your face theatrics they engage in because I have been afraid it would damage my own credibility.
Nonetheless, they are lumped with MoveOn when the administration wants to pin dissent on lefties and portray them as a bunch of hysterics. Which means they have poked a stick in the eye of the right which has been felt. So good for them.
As for the two recent posts here poking fun at Code Pink and other protesters...What's the matter with you??? This is a dead serious issue.
I marched in D.C. and it wasn't a hippie-fest. It was upper middle class, middle-aged people who have the sense and the experience and intelligence to say this is wrong, and demonstrate that to the administration in impressive numbers in a very obvious, can't-miss-this-Mr.Bush, kind of way.
Stop making fun. Our kids are dying. This is not a joke. And I am not an hysteric. I am the mother of two Iraq vets who knows we shouldn't be silent.
Focus on the death and destruction. And stop making silly jokes about the people who are doing just that, no matter their methods.
were in combat zones. That didn't make them qualified to sit behind a desk in the oval office.
All the to-do about Hillary's misspeaking is about nothing. Which makes it all the more amazing that she chooses nothing about which to make major misspoken missteps.
It challenges not only credibility, but more importantly, judgement. If you're going to lie or exaggerate, at least make it about something that matters.
about the state of partisan politics in this country that there could be "Limbaugh Democrats".
However, I live in PA, and listened to a lot of people on the nightly news smugly noting that, though it was painful, they crossed over to help their Republican party in the general election.
It turns my stomach. I'd settle for that level of damage.
that McCain was able to pull his nose out of Bush's ass long enough to say something that damning about the man whose embrace was worth kicking aside what miniscule shred of integrity and pride McCain had left.
That America embraced the much-married and questionably ethically and morally challenged mayor of Sodom and Gomorrah in very recent history. It wasn't for lack of middle American idiotic support that Rudy thankfully went away.
Unfortunately for Bloomberg, he never got a hardhat bullhorn moment handed to him on a silver platter. He's just a smart guy.So I guess it's about a wash.
