  • To be perfectly Blunt

[Read the article: The battle for an Iraq plan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One of the most disturbing aspects of this piece is the assertion by Roy Blunt that all of this discussion on Iraq is just a partisan effort "to embarrass the President." In that case, the President has indeed an embarrassment of riches...possibly the least of which is his latest suicide mission for American troops.

To reference partisanship in the same sentence in which Blunt makes it clear that this is all about Bush all the time, and all about Bush's wants, needs and image is hubris times infinity.

The sooner Republicans stop thinking of Iraq as a "partisan" exercise in power and start thinking about the lives of the men and women they bandy about like so many cans of soup they can pluck off the shelf and drop into the Presidential shopping cart, the sooner we can come up with a plan to bring these people home.

I am sick to death of the hardships and loss of life and limb of this relatively small group of political pawns being diminished by members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.

The "nonbinding" resolution it is taking forever to vote on is an insult and an abandonment of the troops if ever there was one. And then there is McCain, clucking that it is hypocrisy to say we don't support the mission but we support the troops, and we are doing them a disservice by it. Has he talked to the "troops" lately? THEY don't support the mission. In the words of a Marine near and dear to my heart, this mission is FUBAR and everyone knows it. Apparently the halls of Congress have some magical powers or dense fog which is capable of hiding reality while members take time to hear their own voices...preferably in the vicinity of the press, while ignoring those crying to them from the bloody alleys of Baghdad.

  • WHO DEY?

[Read the article: Back to Ohio: Prosecutor says 2004 recount was "rigged"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While everyone is busy calculating numbers and percentages and possibilities and odds, they are overlooking what I think is the biggest issue in this. Win, lose or draw...it is frightening to me that our electoral integrity is so often in the hands of half-witted troglodytes with uninformed opinions that are as near and dear to them as their football jerseys. What do you expect from people who's rallying cry is Who dey? Who dey? It ain't the Bengals, honey. It's George Bush, the nonthinking man's president and that vast network of election-rigging, voter-suppressing, phone-jamming, lying, thieving legion of George's peeps.

And the most offensive and scary proposition is that they can say things like "our random." Low level functionaries with GOP-fueled egos and self-importance have put our own election system at risk. I'll take my chance with Diebold any day over these ethically challenged, fat, stupid, election supervising dolts. Brought to you by the people who are good at running garage sales. These should be professionals with better resumes.

And to you, LOCUTUS..saw your message. Thanks...and right back at you! You made my day.
