@jeb

You keep saying, "Palin is a governor." The only problem is that she's been governor for just a year and is being investigated for abusing her power. A $100,000 investigation. This smacks of comeptence and intelligence to you?

And what did Palin do before? This woman has almost no experience doing anything other than collecting the public dime from small communities. She served as mayor for a tiny town of 6,500. Before that, she was on the city council. Before that she fished and did sports commentary for a couple years. Whoohoo! Big stuff there.

Sarah Palin clearly dedicated large quantities of her life to basically having kids. Good for her. Am I supposed to vote for her for that? I would vote for my son's pediatrician before this woman. I would vote for my new school principal before this woman. At least those women have education and training of some kind. They have credentials. What does Sarah Palin have going for her except a radical view of "life" and a hand out to big oil companies?

Palin's Experience

1. Beauty Queen runner-up

2. college degree in journalism

3. worked briefly as a sports journalist

4. fished

5. Had several kids & is married (wow)

6. Served on a city council for a town roughly the size of three Philadelphia schools.

7. Served as mayor for the aforementioned tiny, tiny town

8. Served ONE YEAR as governor and is ALREADY being investigated for official corruption and abuse of power

Did I miss something? Please feel free to add what else makes this woman qualified for anything else other than the current job of Gov of Alaska, a state rife with corruption and influence peddling. (Oh, I forgot she has female parts which I guess really, really qualifies you to be on the GOP presidential ticket).

Sorry John McCain, as much as I was never going to vote for you, I still feel insulted that you didn't pick a more deserving running mate.

Original article: Who is Sarah Palin?

McCain is Desperate

I just listened to Palin and she sounds like the lady down the street. So, why would anyone want to have her a hair away from the presidency? I've read her bio and she's stunningly lacking in education, credentials, and experience. The only caveat is that she has been governor for a year, although Alaska is sparsely populated. What about her economic policies? Is she prepared to tackle the deficit that was created by the Bush White House? As for her ethics, I'm stunned that this person who is accused of official corruption and retribution has been allowed to join McCain's ticket. The investigation is ongoing.

McCain has clearly chosen Palin in order to peel off some PUMAs. That's it. Good luck McCain. You'll need it.

I'm Surprised

Palin is embroiled in a nasty family scandal that may be linked to official corruption. She's being investigated. Not a good sign. Perhaps McCain thinks that tacking a woman, any woman, on the ticket is enough to persuade female voters. I think he's in for a rude awakening.

Here's another link which has even more info about the SCAM these corporations are pulling on us. And btw, at least 25% of these companies not paying fed income tax have holdings worth more than $250 million. In short, we, the average tax payer, are getting hosed by corporations who make huge profits and then play a shell game with their numbers so that they can evade taxes. the real kicker is that it is perfectly legal. Obama has exactly the right plan. Everyone should be paying their fair share and closing these types of loopholes is the right first step.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080812/ap_on_bi_ge/corporations_income_tax

"The GAO study did not investigate why corporations weren't paying federal income taxes or corporate taxes and it did not identify any corporations by name. It said companies may escape paying such taxes due to operating losses or because of tax credits.

More than 38,000 foreign corporations had no tax liability in 2005 and 1.2 million U.S. companies paid no income tax, the GAO said. Combined, the companies had $2.5 trillion in sales. About 25 percent of the U.S. corporations not paying corporate taxes were considered large corporations, meaning they had at least $250 million in assets or $50 million in receipts.

The GAO said it analyzed data from the Internal Revenue Service, examining samples of corporate returns for the years 1998 through 2005. For 2005, for example, it reviewed 110,003 tax returns from among more than 1.2 million corporations doing business in the U.S.

Dorgan and Levin have complained about companies abusing transfer prices — amounts charged on transactions between companies in a group, such as a parent and subsidiary. In some cases, multinational companies can manipulate transfer prices to shift income from higher to lower tax jurisdictions, cutting their tax liabilities. The GAO did not suggest which companies might be doing this.

"It's time for the big corporations to pay their fair share," Dorgan said."
