Oddly enough, you make the opposite point you want to make in your post. Yes, Bill Clinton has been US President, twice. He has/had legendary ability to connect with people. Guess what? For some reason, it's not working NOW. He's not connecting. People are looking at him as though he's some kind of old coot.

Personally, I find it sad to see him so diminished. However, that just speaks to what has been increasingly obvious: Bill Clinton, the Great Communicator, was a man of his own invention. God knows I bought into it as did most of the Democratic party, but there was always something off about Bill. Something that just didn't fit in with the rest of the persona. The underlying sadness or anger (perhaps) that led him to engage in destructive behavior? Could be. It's too late to care about that for his sake, but then, he'd be back in the White House again if it's up to Hillary. Up to his old tricks no doubt.

When I listen to Obama and President Clinton, I see such a difference. It does make me sad because I always liked Bill, but the fact is there. One person has personal decency and dignity, and the other just appeared to have it. I still think Bill Clinton is a tremendously gifted person and highly intelligent, but I also see his deep flaws and a whole lot more clearly this time around.

  • To Bill-Hill Supporters...

For some reason, you think that Obama supporters are all naive kids. I'm 41 yrs old and I remember VIVIDLY the Clinton years. I voted twice for Bill. I think most people who are voting for Obama probably voted for a Clinton at some point.

But what astonishingly short or flawed memories some Clinton supporters have. Can that possibly be a function of advanced age? Hell no. It's the rose colored glasses you put on when you reflect on the Clinton years. Perhaps they are needed to get you through the horrors of the Bush presidency. I sympathize, I really do.

That said, get real. Clinton did not transform this nation at all. The economy was strong and we were respected around the world. That's something. It's a lot really given the morons in the White House now. However, that doesn't negate in any way, shape or form the following:

    1) NAFTA

    2) Welfare to Work

    3) Total abject failure on health care reform

    4) Near-total inaction on education reform

These are not small issues that are cherry-picked to make Clinton look bad. These are the truly defining aspects of this man's presidency. They are his legacy. Bill Clinton's a good guy and a smart guy. But why was his admin so very unambitious?

Could it perhaps have been the series of scandals, some self-induced, that helped derail a more progressive agenda? If that's true, and there's evidence of that, why should we all pile back on the Clinton bandwagon again?

I gave Clinton the strong economy ( although the U.S. economy is hardly shaped by one individual in the White House). Yes, his handling of the deficit was excellent.

Sorry, but the rest of your critique is a total cop-out. Clinton coulda-shoulda-woulda done all of those other things differently. His wife says so now. Big whoop. Where was that staunch leader of the working poor when he was needed and could have done some good? Where was the tough lady then?

Are you kidding me people? These are fair and legit complaints. This is not about alleged experience or lies or half-truths. This is the record of the Clintons. You can't blame Congress (although they share blame) for not getting stuff done and then turn around and suggest that these people should be back in the White House. Bill Clinton was the POTUS. That means something. Look at how effective (and by that I mean destructive) Bush has been at beating down the opposition when most know he is wrong. That's a leader. A moron and a liar, but a leader all the same.

  • Not a Big Deal to Me...

Hillary Clinton hasn't caught Bin Laden yet either and since she seems more wedded to the Iraq War, she probably won't be able to get him as President.

For me, this type of ad is more about sowing doubts about Obama than turning voters to Hillary Clinton. I just don't know of it can work for her. The fact is that she really needs people to come out for her.

    "The $ factor

Obama has apparently outspent Clinton three to one in PA. So what does it say that Hillary's still the odds on favorite to win the state tomorrow? For some of us, it sure feels like Obama's trying to buy himself a nomination, with incalculable aid from the moveon money spigot. The sheer amount of dough expended to extol Obama and Obama alone is getting pretty darned obscene. In fact, it's enough to bring on an attack of the bitters."

No Kate. It's called commitment. I have donated many times to the Obama campaign as had most of my family and friends. MoveOn, btw, only recently endorsed Obama. I believe after Super Tuesday. Of course, you don't care. You are jsut parroting the lies that Hillary told back in February. So, how come Obama has been fundraising so well for a year Kate? Got a clue about that one?

The fact is that Obama whittled Clinton's 20+ point lead on him down to single digits in a matter of weeks. That's pretty amazing. You also forgot to mention that Clinton was sitting in the White House for 8 years and then the Senate for several more years than Obama. I guess all of the Clinton face-name recognition and political goodwill ( payback) doesn't count for that much.

Saying it doesn't make it so. Saying it 1,000 times, which you have already, doesn't make it so. Obama is beating Hillary and he certainly can beat McCain too. Of course, this country did elect Bush to 2 terms so there is a built in flaw in the system. Idiots.
