[Read the article: Examining the reaction to Clinton's hospital story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Any woman who is pregnant and cannot pay can obtain prenatal care all the same. Just not at the clinic (perhaps) that she was going to before. We do not live in Calcutta.

This story...
[Read the article: Examining the reaction to Clinton's hospital story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This story seems to have many different variations going on. For luckycat et al., there is NO evidence that this woman's condition was exacerbated, caused or in any way negligently treated by either the clinic or hospital staff. The woman went months before to one clinic after losing her benefits and was told, due to previous nonpayment, that she would have to leave a deposit. However, and this is important, she got med benefits AGAIN and it was AFTER this that she got pre-eclampsia, had life-threatening symptoms and died.
There is NO connection between what occurred at the clinic and her pre-eclampsia. How in the world do some people here get off accusing medical staff of contributing to the death of a woman and her baby with NONE of the information? It's appalling! I totally agree with the hospital that the story should never be repeated again in public. It's false.
IMO, the Clinton campaign should have done better to substantiate the story since it wasn't a first-hand account. After all, a woman and her baby died. That's not a scenario where you play fast and loose with the facts.

[Read the article: Examining the reaction to Clinton's hospital story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]From the Department of Health and Human Services
http://www.4woman.gov/faq/prenatal.htm#i
"Where can I go to get free or reduced-cost prenatal care?
Women in every state can get help to pay for medical care during their pregnancies. This prenatal care can help you have a healthy baby. Every state in the United States has a program to help. Programs give medical care, information, advice, and other services important for a healthy pregnancy.
To find out about the program in your state:
Call 1-800-311-BABY (1-800-311-2229) This toll-free telephone number will connect you to the Health Department in your area code.
For information in Spanish, call 1-800-504-7081.
Call or contact your local Health Department. "

Poor women can obtain prenatal care regardless of insurance status. It's in the government's interest to offer preventative care since the government must subsidize Early Intervention for all children with disabilities.
But that's besides the point here. You just don't get that the entire premise of the Clinton story is WRONG. Get it? Wrong!
This woma DID get insurance AGAIN during her pregnancy. She was in fact insured and under care of both a different OB-GYN and hospital when she suffered the symptoms that led to her death. Got that? The situation at the clinic was long since resolved. She did have insurance, she did have prenatal care, and only then did she and her baby die. Almost everything about the story is false except that fact that this woman lost her insurance at one point during her pregnancy and that she was told by a clinic to pay a deposit. That's it.

[Read the article: No, Hillary Clinton shouldn't be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You do realize that it's difficult to take what you write seiously when you resort to name-calling. If you have a point about the article, make it.
For myself, I am realistic enough to know that any argument for either Obama or Clinton as "more electable" is one that will have some truth and some assumption of certain conditions that may occur in the future. Since both candidates have very close margins in the popular vote, either scenario may be more or less accurate. The clear fact, however, is that we are NOT involved in speculation, we are involved with determining who the party nominee will be based on primary & caucus results. That's the way the rules are supposed to work. I have a feeling the DNC may change their superdelegate procedures, much as Pelosi has suggested, to remove a large share of the ability of party bigwigs to change election results.

Love it!
[Read the article: Huckabee to follow in Robertson's footsteps?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's not just that I'm gleeful at the prospect of McCain having to deal with this during the GE cycle (although I really am, LOL!).
I actually like and respect Huckabee. Heaven knows I agree with him on almost no point at all, but there have been some odd areas of overlap. Huckabee gave a great response during the Iowa debates on the issue of education and what we need to do to meet the needs of a new era. In addition, his Christian stance on immigration impressed me. I'm not a fan of his gubernatorial pardons, but at least he showed guts, and (can we say it), true conviction to set of beliefs.

Unacceptable
[Read the article: When rape is just another workplace dispute]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why is it that we aren't marching in the streets for justice for these women? I'm nauseous just reading about this abomination. The very highest levels of leadership needs to step into this national disgrace and fix the legal bullsh*t loophole right now. I'm furious! This situation alone should be the catalyst for tossing out the Bush/Cheney administration. They are to blame for this predicament.
I'd love to know where McCain stands on the type of bizarre deal that KBR finagled that left Americans working for this company overseas in a legal no-man's-land. If anyone has this information, it's much appreciated.

Penn Should be Out...
[Read the article: Obama says he would have gotten rid of Penn]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Totally out. I'm sure there are many within the Clinton camp that are saying the exact same thing to Hillary.
As for Clinton, it reflects very poorly on her that she has this issue in her campaign this long into the process. It also reflects badly that she hasn't done anything more than demote Penn. What purpose does her serve that the Clintons keep him so close?
