Goodbye Veronica

Where's the outrage??Not nearly enough outrage here about Veronica Mars. The CW fast-forwards "One Tree Hill" (Thomas's idea for VM) and then cancels the only decent show they have outside of "Chris" -- they are out of their minds! The reason I started watching VM, btw, is because of the recs here. I'm terribly sad that it's gone.

`

I'm outraged that VERONICA MARS got cancelled, yet TomReedToon will still post here. I love that show. The fact that Paul Rosenberg watched it is proof that it was the smartest show not being aired on HBO, SHOWTIME, or FX..

This Tuesday I'm going to watch REEFER MADNESS, then the final episode of VM, and pay tribute to all things Kristen Bell. I heard a bit of good news, she has a movie coming out this summer.

For Whom The Bell Tolls

Sure, there will be other shows that I'll enjoy as much as VERONICA MARS, neverthelesss, I feel like I lost a good friend. Here's hoping Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell go on to other things, and are back on the air soon.

I believe Kristen has a movie coming out this summer called FANBOYS, about avid and geeky STAR WARS fans. How about a movie about avid and geeky VERONICA MARS fans, or how about a movie that wraps up all of the loose ends. Veronica Mars wasn't just a great television show, she is one of the great fictional characters of all time.

Xochit Is Full Of It

I think that people blaming the CW for Rob Thomas' poor creative choices are delusional and annoying.

"Veronica, here comes Xochit10, quick, pass me your taser."

Why Not?

That's why I hold out hope, naively likely, that some other network will be allowed to pick up VMars. Or that Rob Thomas will find some way to give us true closure to the show.

-- stigmatizedgeek

`

I'm hoping the same thing. The television critic for The San Francisco Chronicle, Tim Goodman, wrote that the F.B.I. format of VM would be a perfect fit for C.B.S.. Thomas originally pitched the show to H.B.O., that's how good it is.

Is There Life On Mars?

According to Wilkopedia, there is still a glimmer of hope for VM. They promoted the show as the season finale and not the series finale. The network still has Kristen Bell under contract and the rumor is they are negotiating with her. Why not hope?

Rice-A-Roni, The San Francisco Treat

Major League Baseball is an industry that serves America's desperate need to cling to something that disappeared long ago, but no one will admit it. MLB creates and sells nostalgia for a simpler time that may have once existed, but sure is long-gone now.

GARRY OWEN

`

Garry's right, which is exactly why I didn't appreciate seeing Condi wearing a Giants jacket rooting for the same team as me. But my priorities are way out of whack. This morning, even the disaster Condi and friends have made of our foreign policy can't harsh my buzz about how well the Giants are playing now.

I also agree with Garry about the name changes for the Giants' ballpark. I always call it Pac Bell Park, Willie Mays Field is also acceptable.

Should I stay or should I go now?

If I go there will be trouble

So come on and let me know

The Yellow Prose Of Texas

Chris Matthews is an insufferable blowhard. I sometimes miss the first few minutes of Olbermann just to make sure I don't catch a glimpse of that annoying toad.

Talk about a conspiracy of dunces, wouldn't that describe a town hall meeeting in Vidor, Texas. It's the most miserable, racist, ignorant place in America. It's number one resident comes here every chance he/she gets to spew banalities. Sure, Oswald acted alone. He defects to the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War. Then he's allowed back into the country, travels to Mexico, associates with right wing criminals and former members of the U.S. intelligence community, then he just happens to get a job near a presidential motorcade route, and goes on to kill Kennedy. Vidor, repent! You are promoting evil. Why?

Matthews Watchable For Once

Well, it took a segment featuring David Talbot and Vincent Bugliosi to get me to watch Chris Matthews. That was such great T.V., I kept forgetting to switch to the Giants' game during commercials. I wish it went the whole hour.

Pac Bell Hurts Bonds

though few would disagree that Pac Bell Park's design helps him.

-- dirge

`

I would disagree. It's extremely hard to hit homeruns to right field in Pac Bell Park, unless you pull them down the line.

More Comments, Less Filling

SGT. PEPPERS might be my least favorite Beatle's album but it's still fanatastic, definitely influencial. It also has the best album cover of all time. Another thing I like about SP's is that it generally inspires a good discussion, this one is a notable exception. At least the comments section totally rocks. every single one of them is more worthy of my eyeball time. Like the Kennedy assassination, I can still remember the first time I read Gina Arnold's annoying, sef-obssessed prose in the EAST BAY EXPRESS.

Back To Back Homeruns

Many fewer people may have bought it, but the Kinks' "Face to Face" was a concept record released 10 months before Sgt. Pepper.

-- Dadski

`

You've got to be kidding

Sgt Peppers was like that moment in the Wizard of Oz when the world changed from black and white to color...

-- drumsandwires

`

The Kinks influence in music is WAY underrated. And in my imagination, probably because most T.V. shows were in black and white, 1967 is when the world became colorized.
