  • Obama Will Lose

[Read the article: Two Democratic dynasties near the exit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Obama folks' headlong rush to sever all ties with Bill & Hillary and to treat them with such disdain and scorn will likely also sever the much-needed support from many in the party that they need to win. At this point, I'm not that inclined to give time, effort or money to the Obama campaign because of the way they've treated the former President and his wife.

I will not vote for John McCain...but, for now, I'm not likely to vote for Obama either. I may well just wait this year out, let Obama lose and then work for a Democrat in 2012...probably when Hillary runs again.

As a Hillary supporter, why should I donate my money, time and energy to a candidate whose supporters have so thoroughly trashed a damned fine Democrat? As I said...at this point, I won't.

  • Personal Rant

[Read the article: John McCain's Arab-American problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Warning: personal rant ahead...

If I hear the hyphenated-American terminology one more time...African-American, Arab-American, Asian-American, et al...I will hurl! We are all either Americans or we're not. I suppose that, as a Caucasian whose ancestors are English, Scottish, Irish, French and Swiss, I could make the racial or ethnic distinction that I am a "Euro-American". I choose, however, to describe myself as simply "an American". To say otherwise sounds more as if hyphenated-Americans are simply "doing time" here awaiting a return to their homelands.

You can add the waving of flags from other countries during demonstrations here in America as a very close second in the "piss-me-off" category; if you love your homeland so damned much, please feel free to return to it...stat!

Thank you for listening; we now return you to the regularly scheduled portion of the program.

    End rant.

  • Israel Is No Friend Of The US

[Read the article: Israel imposes a 10-year ban on American critic of Israeli policies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

From spying on the US to manipulating the US' foreign policy from without and within the US to blatantly calling anyone who opposes Israel's policies an "anti-Semite" to human rights violations, Israel is far from the Democratic bastion it pretends to be.

Mordecai Vanunu long ago blew the cover off Israel's little nuclear secret by letting the world know that Israel has over 250 nuclear weapons in its arsenal at Dimona and scattered throughout its country and on its submarines, ships and planes.

Banning Norman Finkelstein is just the continuation of a pattern of repression of the truth; now AIPAC, Senator Joe Lieberman and the rest of the Israeli-lobby can whine that I am an "anti-Semite".

    Bullshit, gentlemen, bullshit.

  • @ ShawnWM

You have succinctly summed up what many feel even if they don't say it quite as bluntly as you have. Your point is well-taken, though.

I tend to think that McCain will select Mike Huckabee as his VEEP, though; McCain has a problem with the Republican base of the religious right and the socially-conservative. Huckabee seems to be more of a sop to them than Governor Crist, imho.

In any event, I'm getting ready for 2012 instead since I think 2008 is lost with Obama at the top of the ticket.

    I'm just sayin'...

DavidSugarman wrote: AnaHadWolves, you don't describe the color of the canvass "English, Scottish, Irish, French and Swiss" ARE America. White Christians. You don't need a modifier. the worst bigotry is the pretense by bigots that there isn't any bigotry.-- david sugarman"

As usual, you have taken a straight-forward post and bastardized it to reflect your own personal biases. Once again, you are wrong.

Since you seem to have problems with white Christians...the very people who founded America...you might be happier kvetching back in some 3rd world ghetto about white America than in trying to become a part of the entire fabric of this country.

As for bigotry, you're giving a pretty good impression of a bigot by dissing whites and Christians. However, from reading the screeds for which you are known, I didn't expect anything better or different from you.

  • Thinking Evil Thoughts

[Read the article: Why gas is so expensive]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Although I would never do anything about it, I must admit that I do harbor evil thoughts about SUVs and their owners as they barge past me on the highway daily...spewing smoke and wasting fuel. Many are occupied simply by a single driver. They would seem to be poster-children for wanton wastrels in America.

I wonder how much fuel we could save/would save annually if these belching behemoths were somehow dispatched to a recycling center stat...where their metallic bones could be reused as solar panels, wind turbines or eco-friendly mulch?

I recall hearing about an energy-efficient trolley company in Houston, Texas that ran on non-polluting electricity. That company was bought by an oil company who promptly took the non-polluting trolleys off the lines and replaced them with polluting diesel buses...so their petroleum could fuel them. Houston has since replaced L.A. as the most-polluted major city in America.

Perhaps those evil thoughts aren't that evil after all.

  • Par For The Course, Joan

[Read the article: A new low in Clinton bashing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Joan,

I agree completely with your assessment of the treatment that Hillary Clinton has endured. From where I stand, most of the anti-Clinton vitriol is being spewed by the Obama-Is-God crowd; they seem to revel in wanton character assassination and similar bloviation. They seem to think that they either deserve the nomination are are somehow entitled to it. Any other pretenders to the throne (read: Hillary) need not apply.

Because they have so thoroughly trashed Hillary Clinton, I don't believe that Barack Obama can count on much support from her supporters. I certainly am not inclined to go out of my way to help them. (Please note that I referred to the Obama crowd as "them"; I don't feel any kinship to "them" as fellow Democrats.)

Fecal foulness is what we've come to expect from the Obama crowd; it might be time to offer them a wad of Charmin as they circle the bowl back to blessed political oblivion.

    Best from,
