History & Dubya

As I recall, following a man's Presidency, the truth ultimately came out about who was actually the "power behind the throne". It probably will, as well, with Dubya. I don't think that all this mess over the last six-plus years can be attributed SOLELY to him; he had a lot of help!

In the 1990's, the NeoCons/New American Century working group were casting about for a candidate to counter Bill Clinton's populism. They needed a "simple, maleable dolt" who would be their foil, their stalking horse, who would be too dense to realize he was being used and who would be attractive enough not to scare the horses or children, as it were. They settled on Dubya...a poor dupe who had done nothing with his life on his own and who could be used for their own ends and purposes.

Cheney, Pearle, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Khalilzad...and a score more...are the progenitors of this sham foisted on the American people. They needed a "front man", a la "The Sting", who would be the kind and gentle face of a harsh and agressive administration. Dubya was the perfect fool...and tool.

Cheney was chosen to be Dubya's "minder". And, make no mistake about it, Dick Cheney IS the true President of the US. He is the true power behind the throne; Dubya is the drone.

History vindicating Dubya? Hardly. The harm that this little man with the even smaller mind has wreaked on America and the world will continue to be felt for most of this century; his handlers will have retired to enjoy the wealth looted from the world by his policies.

The next "Dubya" is being groomed right now by the NeoCons; watch very carefully who they endorse...and, beware!

Religion, In General

My problem with most religions is their inability to simply STFU when it comes to others who may not share their "vision" of the world. To them, your religion, or lack thereof, is less important than their religion! That is the height of arrogance and the absolute nadir of understanding.

As a practicing...and, very happy member of the Anglican Communion/Episcopal Church...I've been visited at my home by over-eager Mormon missionaries, Jehovah's Witnesses plus various and sundry members of frothing-at-the-mouth Evangelical Christian congregations; to them, I am not sufficiently Christian/saved/churched/whatever.

Simply saying "no thank you" or "I'm happy with my religion" is greeted with the usual refutation of my core beliefs and dismissal of same. To them, only they and their particular religion have the true path, the right way and the sole venue to "Eternal Salvation".

Those who choose a religion should be allowed to practice that religion as long as it harms no one else. Those who choose not to practice a religion have that right, as well. And, those of us who DO practice a religion should be free of being pestered by others.

I always wondered what would happen if there was a country that contained only Evangelical Christians or Mormons or whatever who were all members of that faith. Would there then be "defenders of the faith" who would ride herd on everyone else to enforce dogma?

Oh, yeah. They have that: they're called the Taliban.

@ Holly Capote

Thanks for being so predictable; mention anything that contains "Jew" or "Jewish" with even a modicum of criticism and a torrent of accusatory and faux "anti-semiticism" will flood the area. Nothing new here; that's exactly what AIPAC does to anyone who even dares to criticize Israel's policies, too.

Peripherally, thanks for proving my point...so well and so quickly.
