  • Metaphorically-Speaking: Screw You, Walter!

[Read the article: Whose fault is the Clinton-Obama stalemate?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You wrote: "The problem that Obama has had with expanding his base in every primary since Wisconsin may boil down to the simple equation that either you get it...or you are tone-deaf...Either you are a full-fledged member (with the secret handshake and the decoder ring) or else you find yourself voting for a well-known, albeit flawed, alternative called Hillary Clinton."

I make NO apology for preferring Hillary to Barack! But, to paint me and my colleagues who do support her as somehow being out-of-touch or worse is yellow journalism at its worst. "Salon" readers and Hillary Democrats deserve better writing and more respect, Walter.

This vetting process (between Hillary and Barack) is pretty much split 50/50; it is far from decided. I like Hillary precisely beCAUSE she fights, is tenacious and doesn't quit; Barack and his minions should stop whining and keep competing.

Why can't Barack close the deal? Perhaps, the more voters see and hear him and his message, the less they like him and his message. That could be the true reason for your bleating that the Hillaryites need to head for the exits, stat; you fear that he is sliding backward. That is a distinct possibility.

Unless you're a paid hack or flack for Barack, Walter, stop with the faulty polemics and fawning apologia. You were a much better political writer before you became a partisan.

  • The REAL Discussion We Need

    [Read the article: Opus]

Any "discussion" about race in America omits a basic component: hypocrisy. I'd posit that any real discussion of race needs to address and include the following points:

    1) Many/most black people think that racism is a one-way street: whites hate blacks. I've been on the receiving end of some of the most virulent and undeserved racism possible; I'm white and the offenders black. Seems hypocritical to me.

    2) There are "traditional black colleges" or "historically black colleges"...said with pride; however, "traditional white colleges" or "historically white colleges" are racist and must be desegregated...immediately. Seems hypocritical to me.

    3) There is the NAACP...which is a worthy organization; however, a NAAWP would be called "racist". Seems hypocritical to me.

    4) There is the Congressional Black Caucus for black members of Congress; however, a Congressional White Caucus would immediately become the focus of protests as...<<gasp!>>..."racist". More hypocrisy.

    5) There is a Miss Black America pageant; the opposite would be seen as "racist". Black women have competed in and won the Miss America contest. Hypocrisy, again.

    6) In the Philadelphia "Inquirer" yesterday, political writer Dick Polman wrote that "Democrats have a great choice to make: either a black man or a woman." Excuse me, why is Barack Obama's race important but Hillary Clinton's isn't mentioned? More hypocrisy.

    7) Black people are "African-Americans" but white people are just Americans. (I may start referring to myself as a "Euro-American" in response. I'm serious!)

I seem to remember Dr. King's wonderful "I Have A Dream" speech included the inspirational line (paraphrased here) "I look for a world where my children will be judged on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin." I don't care for the blatant racial hypocrisy that trivializes Dr. King's words.

    Just my opinion.

  • McCain's "Jewish Strategy"

[Read the article: John McCain's bid for American Jewish votes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    1) Photo ops noshing on bagels & lox while schmoozing with locals at a deli.

    2) Wearing sequined yarmulke while dancing to klezmer music.

    3) Praising Israel while simultaneously damning Arabs.

    4) Trying to walk normally with Joe Lieberman's schnoz stuck in his tuchus.

    5) Learning to say "Oy, vey!" with a straight face and without a SouthWest accent.

  • Lovely!

[Read the article: So long, Canada]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The US Department of Homeland Hilarity uses Draconian measures to ensure that Americans are discomfitted as they visit a close neighbor's city and return. Meanwhile, the US border with Mexico is as porous as a screen-door with thousands of illegals swimming over, slithering in and sneaking through virtually unchecked.

What the f*ck is wrong with this picture?

  • Bullshit, Mr. Madden

[Read the article: Breaking the Democratic deadlock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Barack Hussein Obama sat quietly in a pew at the Rev. Wright's church for twenty-plus years and uttered nary a word of outrage at any of the vile, despicable, unpatriotic and white-bashing spewed from the Reverend's lips. Senator Obama did not quit the church in protest. That can mean only one thing: Barack Obama agrees with what the Reverend Wright said.

Only when Senator Obama realized that the majority of "working-class voters" were outraged did HE become "outraged" and "denounce" the Rev and his words. Plus, he only denounced him strongly after Reverend Wright continued his monologue this week. What took Senator Obama so damned long to "denounce" those remarks?

That wasn't backbone exhibited by Senator Obama; that was political expediency. He only became "outraged" when thousands of us voters started re-considering voting for him.

I think Senator Obama is sinking in the polls every day with the Reverend Wright helping pull him under.

You scribbled: Barack Hussein Obama: What is that accomplish for you when you use his middle name as an epithet! You're a fucking Republican tool, like that whino coward that McCain threw under the bus. Someone ought to throw you under a bus, literally! You are racist, ugly, and probably very fat. Go read a fucking Anne Rice novel or some shit like that, you fatass pig!--Baloo"

Yeppers, nothing like hitting the target dead-center to bring out the racist trolls. Screen it, homie:

Barack Hussein Obama IS his name...P & S. People refer to Hillary Rodham Clinton with all three of her names; Barack Hussein Obama is his complete name. Zip lip, fool; I liked it bettah when you just went k'caw.

So, because I disagree with you I'm a Repub? I've been a Democrat for twenty years and contributed big dollars to the party and to individual candidates in that period. Yo b donkadonk, y'heah?

Oooh, "racist, ugly and very fat"? There you go with mo' bay bay shit, Baloo. If I was as b fuggly as you, I'd stay inside.
