@ Ozziebear

You wrote: "geez louise; You yanks are a hoot. Everywhere else we have politicians swinging from chandeliers in dimly lit hotel rooms with unidentified women (and sometimes men), while wearing tutus and doing strange things with bananas. Out here in the grown up world we have a bit of a laugh about it and move on. You guys destroy a perfectly good political career over it. Maybe the hypocrisy angle is a bad look but hypocrisy can be punished at the polls and in the public's opinion. Since when has it been a crime? - especially in an age when hypocrisy seems to be running rampant on so many other more important issues. WMDs and water torture anyone? -- ozziebear"

Yeah, Ozziebear, you just keep drinking that jingoistically-delicious Koala Koolaid; the only thing you have to be embarassed by is actually having to live in Australia, mate.

Waltz THAT, Matilda!

@ Ozziebear (followup)

Q: What do you call a cross between an Australian and a dingo?

A: Nothing; there are some things even a dingo won't screw.

@ Nancydrew

Whether or not Ozziebear has a point is, to me, immaterial; he also has an attitude and is dismissive of Americans in particular. That is unacceptable.

He may state and re-state his opposition to Governor Spitzer's treatment till he turns blue and/or ad nauseum; he is free to express his opinion on that issue. However, what I will call him on his disrespect and flippancy for America and Americans.

Besides, if his Australia was so damned great, they'd drive on the correct side of the street. >>snark<<

@ Saintzak

Nice to see your "holier-than-thou" hyper-religiosity on full display again, Saintzak; you never miss an opportunity to kick Bill Clinton, et al, do you: "It's a full moon; Bill Clinton must have caused it!", "There's a heavy dew on the grass; must be those damned Clintons again" and "Good God...gas is $4 a gallon; Bill Clinton must have had sex with a goat!" You must be the spawn of Karl Rove and Ann Coulter.

Since you're so morally pure and full of pontification (and, just plain full of it!), I'd ask you to be very careful not to let your halo slip down. It might just choke the living sh*t out of you.

Original article: Hillary's race against time

The Proverbial Elephant In The Voting Booth

The opinion from Geraldine Ferraro regarding Barack Obama's racial identity and the impact on voting because of it was spot-on; people may not like what she had to say, but, she did address what many people are thinking: there are people who WILL vote for Senator Obama simply because he is black and there are people who will NOT vote for Senator Obama simply because he is black.

And, there it is: the issue that no one (except Geraldine) is willing to address exactly because of the indignant firestorm that inevitably ensues. Forget addressing the validity of the comment, immediately spewing the "racist card" is expected. But, crying "wolf" every time is wearying.

Remember New Hampshire? Barack Obama polled well ahead of Hillary Clinton...until the privacy of the voting booth. All those people who told pollsters that they were "for Obama" obviously weren't. Wonder why they changed their votes?

Bottom line: the white population in the US is roughly 80%. The latino population is roughly 12%. The black population is roughly 11%. The hard, cold reality of the situation is what Ms. Ferraro was addressing; I don't believe for a moment that she is a racist, either.

Barack Obama will have a hard time being elected president for several reasons...not the least of which is his race. Discussing WHY that matters to some people would seem to be more important than simply calling anyone who raises the question a "racist."

It's The Hypocrisy, Stupid

MEMO:

TO: Obama supporters

RE: Hypocrisy

When Geraldine Ferraro spoke her mind and gave her opinion about Obama's candidacy, most of you went ballistic, calling her everything from "out-of-touch" to "a racist." Most of you demanded that Hillary Clinton not only distance herself from Ms. Ferraro but also "denounce her remarks as scurrilous."

Now, Rev Wright, Obama's pastor for some twenty years, opened his mouth with a racist rant that was stunningly stupid. The silence from the Obamistas has been deafening; they insist that the Rev's remarks were "taken out of context" and other nonsense.

Even Senator Obama downplayed the Rev's remarks as coming from " a man who is ending his career having the right to say blah, blah, blah." In other words, he has a right to say what he thinks and feels without fear of recriminations but Geraldine Ferraro must be castigated and denounced for saying what she thinks. Fine. Have it your way.

But...I'm not the only one who is nauseated by the hypocrisy, the bullshit, the reverse racism and the nastiness of many of those who support Barack Obama. I think you'll find more and more people leaving your campaign rather than joining it due to that constant drumbeat.

John McCain and the Republicans can start ordering the drapes for the Oval Office right now...

@ Peeps

...arrogance personified, Peeps. You excuse and accuse in the same post.

Obama will lose. You just wish he wouldn't.
