If you take the speechifying by the Republicans on the subject of gays, it sounds amazingly like some of the Nazi speeches in Germany in the 1930s on the subject of Jewry. Take out the word "gay" from the Republican bloviation and insert the word "Jew" and you pretty much have the same tortured and vile "reasoning".
Organizations with no soul need a scapegoat, a focus of evil and a whipping boy to take the minds of the masses off their own incompetence and inabilities. In Cold War times, the Republicans would rant, rave and rail against "Godless Communists"; since Communism has, for the most part, abated, the Religious Right-led Republican Party needs a new "enemy". gays are a handy target because, after all, who will stand up for so-called Sodomites?
Republicans have a dearth of honor or dignity in their fetid cesspool of existence. Damn them all for the hate, bigotry and damage they do to individuals who simply seek to enjoy the celebrated "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", three of the unalienable rights of man, as advertised in our beloved Declaration of Independence.
Now, all the Republican presidential hopefuls, rather than having a spine, a brain and a soul, are selling themselves out and over to the intolerent Religious Right...simply to win their endorsement.
Shame on them all...
With every incident of free-speech repression by Republican goon-squads, for every time some police thug stomps on a peaceful protestor and as a result of people being accused by the Right of treason for simply voicing opposition to some of their policies...some people move closer to becoming a vindictive and vengeful radical after living a long life of total pacifism.
While the government worries about those who are known anarchists, it should worry about those who sit quietly by, taking it all in, and seething inside. The most dangerous are the ones who are under-the-radar...watching...and, waiting, for they can inflict massive damage...without warning.
Lots of people seem to be blaming the Deities for the sins of their adherents and followers. Christian extremists, Islamic jihadists, Jewish Zionists and others...are all trashing the basically peaceful concepts of these respective religions. Trying to talk sense with any of these people is akin to talking to a brick: the denseness is about the same. They mindlessly parrot their versions of scripture or bastardize precepts to their own ends without regard to others.
Of course, if people were more questioning, rather than being sheep, they wouldn't so readily follow "leaders" who have their own agendas, namely, wealth, power and position.
I do feel sorry for God, Allah, Yahweh and all the other Deities; their extremist adherents and followers have ruined what should be and could be peaceful and healing experiences.
Don't hate religion, per se; separate the trouble-makers from it. That makes a huge difference.
Just my opinion...
I would say that Hillary Clinton appeared on FOX News for one good reason: to give the average FOX viewer a good look at the next President of the United States.
After all, that permanent rectal-cranial inversion view of the outside world, as suffered by the average FOX viewer, is rather limited.
Because of outstanding teachers who made such a difference in my life, 20 years after high-school I:
1) Amaze my friends by reciting the first 30 lines of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"...in the original Middle English. (Thanks to Miss Robinson for teaching me that.)
2) Read complex literary works and analyze them easily.(Thanks to Miss Green for that skill.)
3) Walk through the Louvre, the Tate, MOMA and other venues with the ability to appreciate and understand what is there. (Thanks to Mr. Goshel for that.)
4) Have developed and burnished my vocal talents above and beyond my expectations...but, not hers. (Many, many thanks to Mme. Rose Palmai-Tenser for that.)
Teachers always wonder if they make a difference or made a difference. In my case, I wouldn't be what I am or where I am if it were not for them.
Thank you...from a grateful former student.
When the Religious Right routinely holds "Support Israel" rallies, when the Republicans basically bend over and grab their ankles whenever Israel wants and even questioning America's role in seeking an even-handed and balanced Middle-East policy generates lusty cries of anti-Semitism from AIPAC, what the f*ck did anyone expect?
As long as it's in Israel's...and, by extension, their proxies'...best interests, that's the way it is: absolute hypocrisy viz-a-viz political commentary/non-commentary.
FOX, as an adjunct of the Republican Party/AIPAC, could figuratively piss on a picture of Mother Theresa, if she had asked for sympathy for the Palestinian people; she might even be branded as a "Nazi-sympathizer" for even questioning Israel's activities in the Middle-East.
When a courageous politico from EITHER party finally decides to stand up to AIPAC, he/she can be assured that it will ALSO be the day that that same politico is branded a Nazi, an anti-Semite and a tool of Hezbollah/Al-Qeda, et al. Count on it!
Screw AIPAC...no friend of the US at all.
