  • History & Dubya

[Read the article: Bush's stairway to paradise]

As I recall, following a man's Presidency, the truth ultimately came out about who was actually the "power behind the throne". It probably will, as well, with Dubya. I don't think that all this mess over the last six-plus years can be attributed SOLELY to him; he had a lot of help!

In the 1990's, the NeoCons/New American Century working group were casting about for a candidate to counter Bill Clinton's populism. They needed a "simple, maleable dolt" who would be their foil, their stalking horse, who would be too dense to realize he was being used and who would be attractive enough not to scare the horses or children, as it were. They settled on Dubya...a poor dupe who had done nothing with his life on his own and who could be used for their own ends and purposes.

Cheney, Pearle, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Khalilzad...and a score more...are the progenitors of this sham foisted on the American people. They needed a "front man", a la "The Sting", who would be the kind and gentle face of a harsh and agressive administration. Dubya was the perfect fool...and tool.

Cheney was chosen to be Dubya's "minder". And, make no mistake about it, Dick Cheney IS the true President of the US. He is the true power behind the throne; Dubya is the drone.

History vindicating Dubya? Hardly. The harm that this little man with the even smaller mind has wreaked on America and the world will continue to be felt for most of this century; his handlers will have retired to enjoy the wealth looted from the world by his policies.

The next "Dubya" is being groomed right now by the NeoCons; watch very carefully who they endorse...and, beware!

Texans finally coming to an epiphany about Dubya prove one thing: they may be slow but they're not stupid.

Congratulations, Texas, on joining the 21st century...finally!

  • Philadelphia Resident/Eagles Fan Weighs In

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]

I don't care what the color of the Eagle's QB is or is not. And, as far as I have been able to ascertain, most of my fellow Fluffians (Philadelphians, to the uninitiated) don't care, either. What we DO care about is a winning team. Whether Donovan McNabb can deliver one of those to us is what counts; his skin pigmentation simply doesn't matter.

But, now that Donovan has made those rather unfortunate remarks about feeling the heat as only "other black quarterbacks can feel", I must disagree. He, and the rest of the team, are heroes to many of us...especially our kids. I can't tell you the number of white men, women and kids who wear McNabb's #5 Eagles jersey and wear it proudly. That says volumes about how Donovan is perceived.

I wish he hadn't said what he said, but, perhaps because he's leading an 0-2 team as this is written, he feels a need to explain away his on-field lack of leadership. Perhaps he simply has lost his ability to QB effectively; color has zip to do with that.

Of course, excuses come in all colors.

Excellent post! Your contribution is an on-target assessment of Bush "pere" and Bush "fils", or, as I call 'em: Bush Lite and Bush Even-Liter.

  • @ Gary Owens

[Read the article: The Mormons are coming]

While I share your views that Mitt Romney has only a slim chance at being the Republican nominee in '08, that's too much of a chance for me. I see him in even darker terms than you.

He got his network of Mormons around the country to help set up his campaign before he actually announced...and, got them to get money together for him. Mind you, this was ALL illegal per the Federal Elections Commission which prohibits and precludes religious entities/non-profits from engaging in overt political work or fund-raising.

On a personal, visceral level, I dislike him because he is simply an empty $4,000. pin-striped suit. His bloviation is apparent, his charm is fake and his smile would be better-suited adorning a "Moonie"...or a Great White shark.

When you watch him "orate", please notice that he is one of the phoniest speakers ever; he simply looks and sounds as if he is some been-to-the-mountain religious hack.

No, I dislike Romney, not because he is a Mormon, but, because he is devoid of warmth. He is so reptilian, I find that he blinks fewer times than the Geico gekko!

Tomhere, I imagine that "FU*KTARD" is a single word consisting of the combining of "fu*king retard". Kind of apropos of Bush, isn't it?

    Fuc*tard, indeed!

  • Bush: A "Real" Texan?

George Bush is as much a "real" Texan in the same way a dainty, apricot French Poodle is a "real" dog: both their Mommas were real bitches.
