  • A "Legally Questionable Act"? Really?

[Read the article: Rove's strategy for 2008?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Your teaser: "A legally questionable presentation by Karl Rove's deputy gives a window into Republican thinking about 2006, and a look ahead to 2008."

Come now...don't be disingenuous. There's that little technicality known as The Hatch Act which forbids SPECIFICALLY exactly that kind of action. What about it doesn't meet the legal threshhold for you?

Call me naive, but, this is as clear-cut as can be.

  • Different Subject; Same Result

[Read the article: My vegan friend insists I justify myself]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Take out the word "vegan" and insert "born-again christian" and the story reads exactly the same: a person with strong views on a subject then subjects his/her friends to a litany of reasons why only that person's philosophy has merit!

I have yet to meet a born-again christian who keeps his/her opinion to him/herself...along with a critique of the other person's life for NOT embracing that philosophy...or to the degree that the born-again does.

Perhaps vegans would consider devouring born-agains as they mostly seem pretty in-human to me.

  • White House=Twilight Zone

[Read the article: Tenet: Bush, Cheney went to war with no "serious debate"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Excuse me, but, isn't this news-story about four years old? It certainly is four years past due!

The continuing tale of deception, obfuscation, obliteration, misinformation and outright lying by Messrs. Bush, Cheney, et al, is not news to anyone with even a modicum of intelligence. Perhaps the Repooplican base of mouth-breathing knuckle-draggers finds this story "new", but, they're about all.

Now, exactly what must we do to execute a coup d'etat? I'm past ready!

  • Dana Perino: Hack, Flack, Shill and 3-Card-Monty Person

[Read the article: "The president heard the call"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Oh, dear God, do I love watching Dana Perino twist, contort and practically turn herself inside-out trying NOT to answer a question truthfully.

The press corps knows she's hedging, we who watch know she's obfuscating and she, herself, knows that we all know. So, WHY, in the name of all that is Holy, do her charades continue?

Please, Dana: Just give me one, straight, non-fudged answer to one, straight, press-corps question; that's all I ask. Is that too much?

    Obviously, it is.

  • Bush Buddy Belatedly Boinked

[Read the article: Wolfowitz agrees to quit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

God bless Bushie and his coterie and clique of numbnuts: they never disappoint. From Rumsfeld to Ashcroft to Andy Card to Gonzo, they represent the worst of public service: failing to represent the best interests of the public while ensuring that their own personal interests are served.

When the final, dismal, pathetic chapter is written on the Bush Presiduncey, we will have reached the nadir of that office that will make even Richard Nixon look good by comparison.

  • We Need A Two-fer Instead

[Read the article: Why Bush hasn't been impeached]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Should Dumbya actually receive the measure of punishment he most certainly deserves...impeachment...we would then be left with the bastard-child of Satan...Dick Cheney...as President.

No, only a "two-fer"...nailing BOTH their hides to the courthouse door...will suffice. Otherwise, why replace a clueless President with one who lacks moral authority?

  • Irrelevant? Since When Has The Truth Become So?

[Read the article: Why did Carter back down on Bush?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I watched the White House propaganda machine's petulant whine that "President Carter is irrelevant" with a combination of bemusement and satisfaction.

Bemusement because they can't take ANY honest criticism without over-reacting; satisfaction because if Carter is so "irrelevant" then why did they feel the need to respond at all?

Paraphrasing Shakespeare: "Methinks they protesteth too much."

  • The Imperial Presidency Redux

[Read the article: Imperial life in a brand-new city]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Follow the money" is more than just a tired phrase; following the money will, eventually, end up at the front-door of some Bush administration hack or his investment portfolio. It should surprise no one that most/many of the contractors in Iraq have deep ties to the Bushies...financially and philosophically. Therefore, revenue from huge overseas contracts will eventually find its way back to the Administration in the way of campaign contributions at best and payoffs at worst.

Building an extravagant embassy in Baghdad that resembles the ornate palaces of Hussein signals to the locals that a dictator has been replaced simply by a capitalist cabal. Security should be a consideration, but, the sensibilities of Iraqis should be as well; exchanging one tyrant's palace for another's palatial embassy fools no one.

Remember Richard Nixon's "Student Prince" uniforms for the White House Palace Guard that drew derisive hoots when they were unveiled? Those derisive hoots you hear in Baghdad over our "imperial presence" is just as derisive...and, just as deserved.

The Emperor Bush is naked...and, that ain't a pretty sight.

  • A Question For The "Museum" Curators, Please!

[Read the article: Inside the Creation Museum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Umm, if GOD commanded Noah to place two of every species in the ark before the great flood, why did Noah disobey GOD and NOT include any dinosaurs? Perhaps because Fred and Wilma Flintstone were keeping Dino, their pet, on a short leash, huh?

Most telling is the last paragraph in the "news" story. Florida high-school student, Tim Shaw, while touring the museum, says to the interviewer, in essence: "I don't know if the Grand Canyon was created in a few days by the aftermath of the great flood or over millions of years by erosion because I DON'T CARE! I care only that the bible says so."

That pretty much sums up the deplorable state of education in America today. Fact is replaced by fiction...faith replaces reason. If Tim Shaw had his way, libraries would close, scientific explanations would be banned and the only thing we would all rely on would be the bible.

I hardly think...pardon the expression...that GOD would put us here simply to be automatons. One can have a brain to think and still have faith in a creator.

This alleged "museum" is sad...so very sad.
