Blind fealty to Dubya seems to be acceptable only if one continues to wander, mole-like, through the DC maze; coming to an epiphany, however, about this Maladministration is met with derision and doubt by Mr. Blumenthal.
Using an analogy, one might read a positive review of a restaurant and decide to dine there. Following a less-than-stellar meal at that restaurant, that person might then decide to write a counter-review...based on his experience there. Mr. Blumenthal would have us believe that this diner went to the restaurant with a predisposition against it. His critical review, therefore, would be biased or not to be taken seriously.
I don't buy Mr. Blumenthal's posit, therefore, I can't buy his conclusion. I believe that Mr. Dowd reported accurately his disenchantment with Mr. Bush. Based on many similar accounts of "former Bushites", Mr. Dowd is hardly unique.
Who among us will step up and confront...through whatever legal means necessary...this egregious affront to our system of government that has served us well for over two centuries?
We seem now to be confronted by King George the 4th. He deserves the same treatment that my and our ancestors afforded King George the 3rd and his acolytes of evil: a second people's revolution.
Can anyone of sound or sane mind now doubt the endgame of the Radical Right as led by King George the 4th? It seems to be a total domination of our country by whatever means necessary... legal, quasi-legal or simply illegal.
Nathan Hale...we need you and your kind now!
For an arch-conservative such as Bob Barr to have an epiphany of this magnitude speaks volumes. Mr. Bush's dangerous deviation from accepted and traditional political norms now seems to be the proximate cause of many "come to Jesus" moments among his former dupes.
Can the day be far off when Dickie Cheney or Karl MarxRove suddenly prostrate themselves at the feet of Lady Liberty and confess their sins? Check the thermometer, boys, because Hell will have frozen over.
If anyone thinks that anyone in the Bush Maladministration has even a shred of ethical behavior, honor, morality, integrity or propriety, let me disabuse you of that thought. These people are playing to win...ethics, honor, morality, integrity or propriety be damned!
When an Administration loses sight of the legalities and niceties of governing and substitutes subterfuge instead, it is, then, no better than a group of Taliban thugs, but, with more expensive suits.
I can nearly always disagree with someone based on philosophy while retaining respect for them or their office; I have NO such respect for Bush nor his acolytes.
I must assume that the father is not a Republican, because then the boy would already be in Week Three of his de-gayification at Camp JesusHatesHomos. If they can't beat being gay outta him there, Lord knows, the boy must be a closet Progressive. And, you know we can't have too many of THOSE kind running loose.
To quote the story: "...woe to any Republican contender who criticizes Bush personally. "People in our party admire his consistency, his leadership and his personal dimensions," said McInturff.
"Consistency", Mr. McInturff, can also be seen as "obstinacy" and "pig-headedness."
Interestingly, these Republicans seem poised to march, lemming-like, in locked goose-step right over the precipice. Party loyalty seems to trump common-sense and the mood of the electorate.
This sets up a wonderful case of schadenfreude for me as the Republican candidates peel away from Dubya the closer we get to the primaries and general election. I will certainly enjoy their discomfiture as they squirm and weasel away from Mr. Bush's disasterous policies...leaving themselves open to charges of flip-floppery.
Schadenfreude, indeed!
A bare majority of the Supremes handed down a "fatwah" against women yesterday. Disregarding poll after poll after poll over the last thirty-plus years showing the majority of Americans favor retaining Roe v. Wade, the usual suspects on the court became the Mullahs of Morality...telling women how little they can control what happens to their own bodies. On the bright side, this will most certainly become a rallying-point for Progressives; the '08 election looms large for those who have, virtually, taken a woman's right to choose for granted. Abortion has become another litmus test, if you will, for all candidates in '08. The Supremes postponed for the next session, however, their ruling on when, not if, women will be required to wear a burqa when out in public.
The continuing and perverse preoccupation with sex by the Repooplicans and their ilk never ceases to engender both humor and pathos. Their patrons...the Religious Right...mandate that certain issues take precedence over others for them to support a Conservative candidate. Consider:
The Religious Right deals primarily with abortion, pre-marital sex, gay/lesbian issues, adult pornography and more. For that reason, I've named them "Crotch Christians". Their motto should be: "If its between the navel and knee, its bad for you and me!" I'd even re-name "Focus On The Family" as "Focus On The Fanny."
As a Christian, I'd encourage my "Crotch Christian" brothers and sisters to drop the single-issue of sex and adopt the issues that matter most: hunger, poverty and the health of the poor and the forgotten.
Oh...you might also ask your "leaders" to be less hypocritical on the subject of sex by keeping it in their own pants.
Wow...finally a refreshing article about a Repooplican and his girlfriend. Till now, I thought most Repooplicans chased underage boys. Nice to know at least ONE of them likes women. He's still a pig for using his position to get her a job, but, a heterosexual pig. For them, that's a start!
I'm surprised that someone hasn't written a dark opus about an NRA convention invaded by terrorists armed with the very weapons the 2nd Amendment crowd champions. The terrorists use those military-style weapons on the NRA membership.
When the perpetrators are finally apprehended, they're asked why they attacked the NRA'ers with those particular weapons.
Their reply? "Because we could".
Schadenfreude, non?
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
