Original article: Today in Palin

Typo.

"And for anyone suffering, as I am, from the overwhelming number of articles that focus on Palin's daughter's pregnancy instead of her actual disqualifications to be V.P..."

There, fixed it for you. You're welcome!

Il Duce de Wasilla

A-fucking-mazing! Here is this woman, mayor of a tiny town in the exurbs of Anchorage, and her FIRST instinct is to instigate a putsch against the previous general--I mean administration.

If she is this inclined to use brown-shirted tactics against her opponents at the uber-local level, imagine what she would do as vice president, or president! It would be as when the Republic became the Empire headed by the Sith Lords. SCARRRY SHIT!

Thanks, but no thanks Mrs. Palin

Truly Mrs. Palin's use as a right-wing "pit-bull" (but with lipstick) was on show last night.

But all we heard were the same slash-and-burn politics that has been the Republicans' stock-and-trade for the last 30 years, along with the culture war they've been fighting for at least as long.

But McCain and the Bush Republicans threw away whatever value Sarah Palin might have had as a "hockey-mom" for connecting with suburban and working-class women when she basically turned into a female Shaun Hannity last night.

And given her dubious record of "reform" in her 18 months as governor of Alaska, I doubt that whatever she says from now on will be taken very seriously.

We didn't hear the Republicans talk about working men and women, about what they'd do about our fragile economy, or what they'd do about our costly dependence on foreign oil, except "drill baby, drill".

There's a reason why we're dependent on foreign oil: because there isn't nearly as much domestic oil to quench our demand, even if we instituted McCain-Palin's policy of "drill baby, drill".

How convenient that the governor of Alaska wants to drill for more oil.

Thanks, but no thanks McCain-Palin!

And give 'em hell, Barack! Give 'em hell!

It's on!

I still find it unbelievable that the race is still tied!

How many idiots are out there anyway? I guess S&M is bigger in America than I thought.

Republicans have had Americans over a barrel 22 out of the last 30 years, and it seems they're ready to say "deeper and harder baby, oh yeah! that's it!"

In any case, I believe that this election will come down to Colorado and New Hampshire, believe it or not. I think McCain will win in Ohio--too many hicks in that state.

New Palin Interview.

From Kyle Hopkins in Anchorage --

http://community.adn.com/adn/node/130086

Apparently she thought her pick as VP was "outside the realm of possibility". She's not the only one: even now I find her selection hard to believe. And I also learned that she's "good at multi-tasking"

She also sees her pick as somehow a vindication of Alaska and Alaskans. Pretty narrow world-view for someone who's running as VP of the UNITED STATES of America, and not just AK. Who does she remind me of again?

Great Point GG

The McCain campaign only has to keep her away from the NATIONAL press for a few weeks, and if they win they don't have to let her speak to anyone. Didn't Bush give something like 5 press conferences in 7 years? And his people are running McCain's campaign, so why would their view of the press differ from the Bush administration's? But they'll let her speak with local press as in my previous post, because I guess they only ask "human interest" questions and nothing too probing.

How long did it take the "elite" media to question Bush about WMD, much longer than that.

RE: Will They Neuter The VP Debate?

Don't expect Palin to wither like a flower in the heat, or at least the press to proclaim her the loser.

Remember the Gore V. Bush debates. Because expectations were so low for Bush, all he had to do was stand there and not look retarded to win the debate.

Gore kept mentioning social security lockboxes and McCain-Feingold.

All bush had to do was answer in generalities and stick to his talking points, no matter how little sense they made.

At first the conventional wisdom was that Gore had "won" the debate, but then the Bush team kept mentioning his sighs, etc, and then the conventional wisdom was that Gore was boring.

The McCain people know this and they know that putting her in the path of withering questions are a loser for them. So what they're going to do is wait-out the clock until the debate, then make Palin look, if not a wonk, then at least competent in the VP debate.

In other words, the thresholds for the two VP picks are vastly different. Biden has to BURY Palin in the debate, all she has to is answer the questions confidently right or wrong. And all of a sudden the years of foreign policy experience Biden has will be nullified by Palin.

Original article: I Like to Watch

What is up with this Fall Schedule

I ain't watchin' none of it, Heather.

Fringe - bad X-files remake

The Mentalist - Simon Baker vehicle.

Heroes "villains" - we rubbed the "save the cheerleader save the world" bit into the ground - Next.

The only one I'm looking forward to is True Blood

But that's a little too heavy-handed with the homosexuality allegory which is a bit too overplayed already. What's Ball going to do have characters do, saying being a Vampire is a choice?

And also, Ms. Havrilesky. I should now take the opportunity to take you to task for not promoting more documentaries and science programs. I'm sure that National Geographic and Discovery channel, PBS etc, are debuting new series and programs. These you should cover.
