The View from Alaska is incredibly sad. Alaskans must find some leadership with the integrity and vision to protect this great state. Palin does not care about squandering the natural resources and her plunder can only be explained by her messianic zeal. She believes Christ will return in her life time, so polluting and ravaging Alaska is acceptable. The salmon and other fish from Alaska is a food source we need in this country. The illegal destruction of wildlife such as the wolf pups is hideous, as hideous as her arrogance. Her abuse of power conviction is true, she and the McCain campaign will spin it,lie about it because that is what they do. She did her own investigation and nailed Ruedrich, so she understood exactly what she was doing-she and Todd Palin were told many times. She is skilled in exploitation of people, natural resources and should not have the privilege of being in office. Recall Palin and do the best thing for state and the world.
First, it is critical to vote early. Answer the hatred with your vote. The most hideous campaign ever speaks volumes about the arrogance of McCain/Palin. Thank God Rep.Lewis stepped up and called them out.McCain's unleashing of Palin was no more than a campaign strategy. Now in swoops the savior, with "respect Obama" and I want Obama to repudiate what Rep.Lewis just said. McCain's arrogance is beyond the pale. Palin,in her messianic zeal, worked hard at eviscerating her opponents. Her arrogant, self-righteous refusal to answer questions or comply with a code of ethics goes far beyond the pale. This is the time when America needs positive change, capable leaders who will give Americans help they desparately need. All the McCain/Palin ticket can offer is racial bias and hate, inciting fear at a time when Americans are already fearful and angry about the economy. This is beyond arrogance, ego,it is divisive, dangerous and without honor. Palin should be recalled. McCain should never be elected to another term, ever. His abysmal record on veterans, mias and now the Iraq war is beyond the pale. Make your vote count.
Sorry, in part, I disagree; McCain does have one clue about the war in Iraq-opportunism-he uses the war to further his own agenda, just as he used his POW status to forge his career. The “win in Iraq” strategy is a clear case of ‘follow the money.’ McCain’s top fund raiser, Harry Sargeant III, Finance Chairman of the Florida Republican Party, stands accused of war profiteering, having made tens of millions thru his Pentagon contract to supply gas and oil to our troops in Iraq. The McCain campaign lists $500k coming from Sargeant. His Florida mansion was the setting for a fundraiser for McCain this year. McCain received $50K ‘bundled’ from Sargeant’s Jordanian business partner, Mustafa Abu Nab’a. McCain stated the $50k would be returned and all other monies from Sargeant would be looked at. Ultimately, we the taxpayers take the hit, this is part and parcel of the reason we are spending $12 billion per month in Iraq.
McCain has no clue on the Iraqi details. Videos show he doesn’t know a Sunni from Shiite, had to be told he named the wrong country while speaking and made the inane comment about the General Petraeus riding around in an unarmed Humvees . He is not a military leader just because his dad and grandfather were given were admirals.
His participation in the Vietnam war certainly does not qualify him as an expert on a ground war in Iraq. McCain has been fortunate enough to be recognized all of his life for his service in Vietnam and is still using his POW status to further his career. Videos show his venom when questioned by the MIA constituency- several witnesses state he shoved another one of the women in the hall. All of the Vietnam veterans certainly deserve much, much more from this nation, not just him.
During the debate, McCain said (with emotion) “I love the Veterans” and many informed people choked on their dinner. He panders to those who don’t look at his mediocre voting record, that don’t see his conduct on video; those that blindly trust his rhetoric. A classic example of McCain’s vet support is when the deplorable conditions at Walter Reed Army Hospital were shown in 2007. McCain sits on the Armed Services Committee, who oversees the hospital. He voted against funding for the hospital in 2006. He publicly apologized for not knowing about the state of Walter Reed Army Hospital. Lack of funding played a big part in the facility's condition.
McCain has certainly profited from his POW status-he has had years to be the biggest advocate the veterans have. But he dismisses veteran benefits as too costly and yet the war must be won. In the presidential debate, he proposed a freeze on everything, but of course, not on the veterans. He would just ignore or vote against their benefits when it does not fit his ideology of ‘no pork.’
His hideous temper appears if any other candidate dares to encroach on ‘his veteran turf.’ In his book, McCain wrote of his temper- "I have used it for effect as often as I have lost it involuntarily." McCain uses his temper to influence, control and advance his own agenda-at the expense of the veterans and American taxpayer in Iraq.
