Nothing to lose

It seems to me that the women are already wearing the Hijab off the job. What they are asking for is to wear the Hijab on the job. Which they apparently have a right to do according the the Egyption courts. So what do they have to lose if they win their rights to dress in a manner which they feel is necessary for their religion?

She isnt being punsihed for provoking the rape

She was sentenced for being alone with a man not her husband, which is against the law in Saudi Arabia. Whether we like a country's laws or not at least be clear what she was convicted for.

Fraud is no way to start a marriage

If these women care about being virgins, stay virgins until marriage. If not find a husband who doesn't care about their virginity.

Original article: A woman > her hymen

The issue is fraud

The simple matter is that the woman was not a virgin when she married as she had presented herself. A marriage based on a lie cannot succeed.

Now instead of an annulment there will be a divorce. How does this ruling help anyone?

Democrats are pathetic

Whether in NY or in the federal government they don't seem to know how to use the power they've been given to promote their agenda. They're afraid to play hardball and keep bending over backwards to appease the fringe elements. When will Democrats realize that appeasement doesnt work? Bipartisanship is bullcrap and not what the voters want.

Killing horses for food is not animal creulty

Conditions need to be improved in the slaughterhouses but we eat other animals.

Original article: Vote for Shamsia

Can't help the women without helping the men and vice versa.

Western policies that exclusively focus on Afghan women are bound to fail. Its true that women are suffering terribly in Afghanistan. But the men are suffering just as much albeit in a different way. Western attempts to rescue the women from their men have made the situation much harder for the women by producing an extremist backlash.

Original article: What went wrong?

Compromise needs to be negotiated from a position of strength.

The Democrats insist on starting from a "Compromise" position before they start negotiating. Why should the Republicans agree to anything when the Democrats surrender before they start?

If the Democrats put forward their most extreme positions and show that they are willing to ram these positions through congress as the Republicans did when they were in charge, perhaps the Republicans would be able to negotiate in good faith.

He was on the right because of his Islamophobia

But I guess you need more than just Islam hatred to hang out with the right wing.
