weeping, I'm wondering if you read the entire Boyer piece, and what you thought of it.
And to you and Faulkner Jr.: can you even imagine your reaction if Phil Griffin was talking about African Americans the way he talked about Hillary Clinton supporters? I can't think of something that might be analogous to women staying with brutal jerks that would work for African Americans, so let's not go there. Let's just stick with: I know they're unhappy, but they'll be back b/c they have nowhere else to go. I know, it sounds like the way a lot of Democrats have acted for a lot of years. I'm not pretending it's never been said; it's precisely because it has been said I know you both mustn't have really taken it in, if you snapped back at me like that.
Oh, and it's good to know I can rap Fox over calling Michelle Obama "baby mama," but it's time to leave MSNBC alone. Faulkner Jr., if you promise to check with me before you advocate for black people, I'll get your permission before I advocate for women. Fair?
Finally: Please find me a citation where a female Clinton supporter said "it's our time," because I never heard that. And please clarify that you're not claiming I said that, because it was a little unclear.
Hi weeping: I don't really think you're allowed to say you're not vetting your vetters, when they're part of a team of three. He also claimed Johnson wasn't "working" for him, and I know he meant he wasn't part of his paid staff, but it sounded...off. Plus: I think Johnson is part of a tired DC elite that was overall off-message for Obama -- even apart from his Fannie Mae/Countrywide ties, but especially because of them.
I can't help but be sad about Tim Russert, even while I understand people who criticize(d) him. I criticized him myself. But yes, here we are, all of us in our different but equally fervent ways, completely involved in this historic primary season -- and he dies. My heart goes out to his family and coworkers.
Thanks for asking.
No mention of baby mama? I talked about it in my last post, on CNN last night, and yes, here too:
Of course, Obama didn't have to do anything to ignite outrage about Fox News calling Michelle Obama his "baby mama"; that spread like wildfire on its own. But the fact that Fox executives had to call the "baby mama" headline a "mistake" on the same day Obama launched a Web site devoted to fighting smears helped set a tone that the campaign wouldn't put up with tawdry GOP and media attacks.
Sandra M, that's a good point, and why my head started to explode as I tried to wrap my mind around what Fox was up to. In the completely unimaginable situation in which the Democratic nominee was NOT married to the mother of his children, I would not support Fox or anyone else making that an issue. Of course. But I don't think that was really the point -- this was just a quick, handy, multipurpose way to diminish a black woman (oh, yeah, and just in case anybody hadn't noticed, with all the Jackie Kennedy comparisons: she is black!)
In my opinion, that is. I can't speak for Fox.
Cuttle, Hillary Clinton is going to be working her heart out for Obama. I'm a journalist; I'm going to be telling the truth, not shilling for any candidate. I praised Obama's overall economic plan on CNN, but I told the truth about his health plan: It lacks a mandate, and that's a problem.
Hey, I'm confused by your assault, whatever you'd like to call me is fine.
After this experiment a bunch of us will come up with recommendations, and they could be ignored....whatever. But I know my next move, which is helpful.
Thanks, CrunchyFrog...we can dream, right? And thanks as always doloresflower, CeliainSF and AKA Smith. They will need people like us someday; just not right now. I never dreamed of a response like this to this piece. But it will all be fine, I promise.
Just keep on keepin' on, everyone, and try to think about what you would do and say if you had just one chance to make your case for Obama. Thanks, everybody.
C. Mosby, I hope you had a nice dinner. You obviously didn't have time to examine my Nevada coverage, but hey, everyone deserves to eat dinner!
I wrote multiple pieces on Nevada, three blog posts and a story. I found Sylvia Antuna and confirmed Taylor Marsh's story, though I hadn't yet found a pattern. The next day, in this post I quoted other CWU workers who said they'd been harassed:

I also wrote a cover story about it, quoting more CWU workers. Sadly, the entire story looks quite prescient now:

XH, just a point of clarification: I covered Nevada myself. I met and wrote about Culinary Workers Union members who were intimidated by union leadership, and/or prevented from registering to vote or getting time off work to caucus. So Taylor Marsh had that story right. If you didn't find that in my archives, I'm not surprised you didn't find posts criticizing Clinton.
And gee, I'm glad you like me, because I can't imagine what you'd do if you hated me, given that you just flagged a post calling me a liar and said, "This bears repeating!"
Thanks, NYShooter, you're right, I should have gone to bed before my last post addressing people who don't deserve an answer. I'll try to keep my attention on the people who do.
