Wow, david sugarman, I'm really, really sorry I replied. I do know better.
Some of the folks here should try to calm down and think about the concept of sore winners. There's nothing less appealing, really.
I'm behind Obama; I'm not the enemy! I will continue to raise questions as I have them, through November and beyond. It's what I've always done and always will do.
david sugarman, so it's worse for WOMEN to "tease" they might not vote for Obama? First of all, I didn't tease, but...why go there?
Lindy from L.A., I don't speak for Elizabeth Edwards, but not caring who she supports, after all she's invested politically in the Democratic Party? That sounds disrespectful. I could be wrong.
Hi sigmund5: It's late on a Friday. But if you really care about my thoughts on the self-defeating left, spend time in my Salon archive. I apologize because it goes back 10 years, but if you're curious, also look at my writing going back to In These Times, the socialist newspaper in Chicago, where we covered the Harold Washington campaign in loving depth. That was 25 years ago, unbelievably, but...it's all out there, if you really care.
Part of what's hard for me here is people show up in these threads, they know nothing about me, they read ranting letter writers and draw wild conclusions. Many of my critics may well disagree with me if they knew me better, but they wouldn't be so...well, I'll leave that hanging, because I can't find the right word.
OK, C. Mosby, I'll play. I don't actually think dhendrix is among the worst on this thread, which is why I didn't call him/her out, but if you're going to be dishonest, this is what s/he wrote:
John Edwards endorsement & s/delegate vote...not too important. More than half of his delegates moving over to Obama..still, not all that important. Now, the wife of the ex-Senator, ex-candidate who is NOT a super delegate and cannot deliver any super delegate votes..THAT'S who we're waiting on. Makes all the sense in the world to the women living on Venus.
In my world, Elizabeth Edwards deserves way better that that dismissal. In your world, maybe not. Play on.
Wow, you rock, C. Mosby. That's really awesome. I was saying that overall, s/he isn't one of the worst on this thread, and we have some really cruel and dishonest people here, and that's why I didn't single him/her out in my post -- s/he didn't deserve it, given some of the worst offenders. I certainly wasn't defending his/her post about Elizabeth, which said exactly what I said it did. You're the one who selectively re-posted only a portion.
Thanks. I've learned my lesson answering you. Good night.
Thanks, Uncle Fester. L.A. doesn't relax me, at all -- I grew up on Long Island and in suburban Milwaukee, I love SF, you see where I'm going -- but I'll take your advice and go someplace chill tomorrow. Won't mention what I'm doing because I don't want people talking about my daughter again. That was awesome, too, by the way. I promise not to mention her again.
Actually, Uncle Fester, I think I loved Wisconsin best. I hope you're not suggesting I lack integrity, or that I crave the spotlight of LA, NY or (not really, it doesn't exist) SF. That doesn't sound like the Uncle I've grown fond of here, but stranger things have happened.
I'm not about celebrity, Uncle Fester. I'm getting a daughter through high school and editing a Web site and being a good friend and sister and also covering an historic presidential campaign with integrity. And replying in battles where the personpower odds are literally hundreds (in terms of posters, not readers) to one. Maybe what you're saying is there is some grandiosity in my answering people's posts here and thinking I can change minds. I'll think about that, and either way, I'll cut back a lot. Because as you're pointing out, this isn't working. Thanks for your feedback.
