Did you like my last post? I find it hard to tell with you.
I was at Derby last Saturday. Beautiful day, little windy though.
So sad about Eight Belles going down. It ended what had been a great day for me.
Jesus' General is one of the funniest sites I have ever encountered on my sojourns thru the internets.
for your info on Toledo Blade's excellent articles.
As for the Liberty incident, I have heard that the Israelis thought our spying would get back to their enemies somehow or that they were afraid of us picking up radio chatter concerning various summary executions of enemy troops they apparently were engaged in.
was called '8th Man'. It was much, much better than Speed Racer.
If they want to redo a cartoon, they should redo '8th Man'.
If you remember it, you are getting old :-)
Saying that 52,000 American lives in 8 years was 'not exhorbitant' just to stop some portion of jungle from going commie makes me want to puke.
Anyone who can support McCain after hearing him say that must be a sad sick soul.
You know, when you're living on a ship, as an officer, & doing your killing from 10,000 feet, you can become somehat cavalier about what the grunts on the ground go thru when executing their mission. YOu're still a piece of shit, though.
Tomreedtoon asked; 'By the way, isn't it interesting that Opus is the only penguin in the strip? Is his beak that much bigger than other penguins - and without comparison, how would we know?'
Jesus, for someone who's like clockwork coming in here every week to skewer Mr. Breathed, I can't believe you haven't seen any other penguins in the strip!
From time to time he'll do a flashback sequence & yes the other penguins all have smaller beaks than Opus.
I thought you were supposed to be a pro...
Xrandadu Hutman asked: 'But may I ask a questin? Who is the woman in the image, over on the left, with the wind-tunnel face and the tantalizingly flat stomach?'
That would be Amanda, who finished 2nd to the winner Pavarti. I thought she should have won, but she comes across a little cold at times & thus lost in finals again (she finished in top 3 of her first Survivor go round).
Enjoyed the show. It was one of the best seasons ever, IMO.
Haven't even read the comments yet (sure looking forward to it, though) & if the dress in question is the one on the left, then yes, this 48 year man thinks it is a little too racy for a high school function.
She has some chutzpah to try & get in with it though (and does have the body to carry it off).
P.S. I can't believe the other gowns (in the Houson slideshow) were deemed too provacative. Was Cotton Mather chaperoning that prom?!?!
JHThree said: 'I agreed with the jury members who were laughing at Amanda - and then Parvati won the million dollars with an honest answer to Alexis' question about what would make her a role model.'
Boy, I bet she was really sweating on that question. How about Natalie's question to her, did she answer that well enough to be a 'role model'?
Pavarti is a deserving winner, but minds were already made up long before the final TC.
I didn't think her picture (2 eyes thru slats) looked very 'mad' or 'nuts' particularily...
AKASmith noted about her 12 year old daughter: 'It seemed that she had some sort of slinky cocktail number in mind for her National Honor Society induction.'
In the backwoods of Kentucky, you must be at least a junior in HS to be inducted into NHS. Was your 12 year old daughter already a junior in HS or do they let younger students into it in the state you reside in?
Enquiring minds want to know...
Why can't the eternal omnipitant lord of all creation have taken 13 billion or so years for everything to get to its present state? The fundamentalists are always going on about how all-knowing & all-powerful God is. To me, this means that time doesn't matter to him/her. A billion years can be passed with a snap of his/hers mighty fingers, etc.
I think this whole thing (young earth, creationism, etc.) is just a wedge issue they forment to try and sow dissension between their followers & the 'pointy headed intellectuals'.
If the people like LW's friend ever gave it a moments thought, they would see that their God can easily have created everything & taken (what is for humans) a hell of a long time to do it.
you might head out to Louisville sometime to promote your book. There are many progressive portions of Louisville that would love to tweak Mitch McConnell by hosting a book signing, etc.
That way you might be able to meet some of your KY friends, such as me, and WES, & Jim White, etc.
Larry DeRita is a cowardly liar & isn't fit to scrape the shit from the correctional custody latrines in Paris Island.
I had respect for Mr. Galloway before I read his email beatdown of Larry & his slimy boss, but I now he's my hero!
SueNJ97 opined: 'And I wouldn't allow a child of mine (if I had one) anywhere near a place that taught young-earth creationism. Hell, I wouldn't let my cats near that school. But he's not talking about teaching it in the public schools.'
Don't you feel sorry for the poor kids who have to attend this pseudo 'school'? Shouldn't the LW at least try to dissuade his friend from sending his own kids to that brainwashing factory? Tina had a good post about the harm done to her education by having her childhood wasted in one of these American madrassas.
You are only a child once.
