Twisted History

Brightstar65, during latest screed, had this gem: 'Well, here comes Symbol Boy, a paragon of writing virtue, neither angry nor unreasonable (though imperfect as ALL OF US are).

And he gets the same dressing down treatment by everyone as I do.'

Well, where does one begin here? Your hero 'Symbol Boy' (who reminds me of Realname, in writing style), is not (IMO) a 'paragon of writing virtue', unless maybe you compare his/her snarky style with your histrionics.

You just hit the same note over and over and over again & it becomes tedious to the point where I can't hardly read them anymore (although, I did read this one).

Women have the right to date/marry superficial losers & they have the right to kick you to the curb as many times as they think you merit being rejected. We also have the right to date/marry/reject all different kinds of women as well for all kinds of superficial reasons. I also think that everyone who has been treated that way has the right to lament the situation.

However, to harp & harp & harp about how feminism has emasculated the mighty you is (IMO) sorta pathetic (I would assume that all the females who read these posts think 'jeezus, if any of this hatred/whining comes out when you are interacting with a female, no wonder you've run em off and rightly so').

I hope you can have some sympathy for your fiance & understand that in general it is harder to be a woman (especially a minority, in another country, operating in a 2nd language) than it is for you to be a man,in this country, at this time.

Responsae to Brightstar65

Enjoyed reading your measured response. We will have to respectfully disagree vis a vis 'who has it tougher'. :-)

I do think you have important things to say, I just wish that all your posts were 'calmer' (like this one was).

Personally, I think more people would listen to your points if you just dialed the volume back a little.

I do want you to know that I have also been guilty of doing the same thing I gigged you for (going off the deep end in a post). You can read my stored stuff & see examples I'm not proud of.

Improving the Species

Shadow wrote: 'A hyena crossed with Dick Cheney would be an interesting specimen.'

A cross between a hyena & Dick Cheney would be an improvement on the original model (the Cheney, anyway).

Republican Veniality (Example 2,309,729)

Pandyora asked: 'What incentives did the Republican congressmen have to attack McNamee and defend Clemens? One would think that cracking down on steroids for the children would be a nonpartisan issue...'

IMO, Pandyora, the Repubs were thinking/hoping that Mr. Clemens would run for congress or some other office some day. That's why Mr. Schilling (paragon of integrity that he is) is refraining from any derogatory comments towards his fellow Repub (Barry Bonds being assumed to be a Communist).

All Hail Comrade ScottyRVA

I praise your socialist dialectical explanation of the farseeing Chairman's proletarian humor. I look forward to your elevation at the next Party Congress.

Good Point!

I liked what JKP1000 said up above. That meme I think would work very well & I know Sen. Obama could frame it very eloquently.

It was nice to see headlines about the Democrats that didn't mention the words 'sniveling' & 'cowardly'.

The Napolean of Our Time

Rosenkavalier asked: 'Does playing Risk make you a great war strategist?'

Our current Pres. seems to think so...

Hey Privatiece

Read your poingnant post. Glad your husband was able to get his Chiefs promotion. I have always felt sorry for the poor bastards that have to recruit.

Had one work for me in early 80s & he used to tell horror stories about trying to recruit circa 1974 - 75.

I too feel the Code Pinkers are shooting (unintentionally, I guess) us in the foot, as the RWNM takes & twists the point they are trying to make into something that hurts our cause.

The people they should be harrassing are way above the pay grade of a recruiter.

Best Sleestak BBall Player

I read several months ago that Bill Laimbeer, HOF center for the Detroit Pistons, played a Sleestak for a year (or a season) back when he was just out of college & needed a job (or he might have still been in college).

Another Laimbeer memory: He was invited to the 1980 Olympic basketball tryouts that were held at the University of Kentucky. All the initial workouts/drills were held in the old Memorial Coliseum. I was able to get in & I saw most of them. Anyway, Laimbeer was just out of Notre Dame & was awful. He was overweight & was quickly cut.

I still marvel at how much better he made himself in the intervening years (of course, as a Celtic fan I still hated his guts).

A Point

Evidently, the LW has only the boyfriend's word that the other girl said 'let's make your GF jealous'.

As all us posters know, we men always come clean & never tell self-serving lies when put on the spot by an angry woman.

The Attempted Murder

I guess it could be construed as 'attempted murder' if you won't give a plane clearance to land that is running out of fuel.

That said, I would think that the captain of the plane would be within his/her rights to disregard the refusal & land anyway since it will soon be coming down one way or another.

I guess I can't imagine an airplane pilot saying 'oh well, they won't give us clearance. Dammit, I guess we'll just run out of gas & crash'. If that's the case, Pakistanis are much more intrinsically law-abiding than this American.
