Kitt, One Last Time

Kitt asked: 'How come you keep saying shit that makes it seem like you think that you are in the majority on this issue when you are clearly not.'

Dude or dudette, I don't give a shit if I'm in the majority or minority on this. I have my opinion & I'm giving it. You have yours & you're giving it.

In case anyone thinks so, I'm not in favor of the resolution condemming MoveOn, I think the Democratic senators who voted for it are chickenshits. I like MoveOn & think they are giving mostly great help to Democratic candidates. I think they made a mistake with the title 'Betrayus' in their ad. I think if they had titled it 'What the General Said Then' & contrasted his prior statements with the BS he is giving now, there would have been a more nuanced discussion.

Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Selfish Buckner

FMHilton wrote: 'Red Sox fans will never get over Bill Buckner's utter futility, and neither will any sports writer, no matter how many post-season matchups they get into-it still brings a cringe of "ah, couldn't he have just caught the damn ball?".'

To me, you should have been thinking 'couldn't he just have left the game for a defensive replacement who had 2 good legs'.

Because, IMO, if you think about it the way you wrote, you're giving him a pass for being a selfish dickhead who had to be on the field to run & jump on the pitcher when you won the series. Never got to do that, did he?

Pinella is an Idiot

These series are best 3 of 5. There may not be a 'game 4'.

Hey Anonymous Dumbass

who said up above re Pinella: 'he has a great, battle-tested bullpen. why not limit the wear and tear on zumbrano, with an eye to game four. all you naysayers would be deifying him if they had won. yea, they didn't. get over it.'

As another poster mentioned, you go to another pitcher & you have a chance of that person having an off day (as seemed to happen). Your ace pitcher is doing great & if you can win game 1, there's a chance you can sweep & never get to game 4.

You need to win the game you're playing, not worry about future games that may not happen. IMO, when your pitcher is hot, you need to ride him. Lou really isn't an 'idiot' as I mentioned earlier, he just got to over-thinking.

A Further Definition of Libertarianism

Libertarians are people who are too pussy to call themselves Republicans.

Response to Rillion

In regards to my 'pussy' comment. No, it doesn't take 'bravery' to call yourself a Republican. However, when your philosophy mirrors standard (say pre-9/11 Republican, because the kooks in power now have no set loadstone beyond raping our nation & being honorary Likudnicks) Republican economic wishes 90% of the time (IMO), you are a 'republican'.

I sort of have grudging respect for those of our citizens who just say: 'yes, dammit, I'm a Republican, grrr'. You 'libertarians', while being Republican in all but name (IMO), wish to escape the bad connotations that you feel arise when you admit to being a Republican, so you cop out with the 'but I'm a Libertarian' plea.

I have never met a poor Libertarian. I've met plenty of poor Republicans, but never a poor Libertarian.

By the way, the commetariat is not covering Mr. Paul because he has NO chance at ever getting the Republican nomination. Sam Brownback would be the nominee before Mr. Paul. The economic elites in the Republican party (who might have been open to him) are outnumbered by the religious-kook portion of the Republican electorate. Plus, Mr. Paul's 'get the hell out of Iraq' stance is anathema to the economic elites, who are making alot of money investing in General Dynamics, Raytheon, etc.

I do hope he continues his quest, it's great fun to see him up there ripping on the Bushian Hegemony.

Hey WES

Did you see George Gipp at # 22 or #23 in that list?! I'm now guessing Bonzo will make all the 'Greatest Chimp' lists.

If he's #22, then there are going to be about 6 or 7 more ND players on that list.

If it is a countdown to #1, I wonder who it'll be. IMO, greatest college football player I ever saw was Barry Sanders. Older people have told me that Ernie Davis was better than Jim Brown. It will probably be a quarterback, though.

UC vs THE Ohio State University

Mikes Pace said: 'I would like to see Cincinnati go undefeated. Then a Buckeye/Bearcat national title game. America should be so lucky.'

I too would love to see UC go undefeated & that bowl game would be something else. If it were to happen as you surmised, I think UC would probably win (due to them having all that underdog mojo working for them).

Hopefully my Cats will give a good account Sat. against LSU. I'm not expecting a win, but if LSU doesn't play to their ability, we're capable of beating them.

Great Honor

I'm very proud of VP Gore. Great American. Be very surprised if he got into race. I don't forsee him ever running for office again.

Questions They'll Never Ask

Yellow Dog had this great prospective question: '"I am asking you whether, when a foreign government captures a U.S. soldier and forces him to strip, douses him with ice water and leaves him in a freezing cell for days, it is your opinion that that soldier has been tortured.

"Why not?"'

I wish you could ask some questions, Yellow Dog, rather than the popinjays who seem to infest the Senate. Another good question might be:

"Is it torture to pull off a person's fingernails?" Creating a baseline of what is commonly accepted by all but the most rabid Guiliannite as torture. You would then move on to some others that aren't quite so messy & see if you could get the same response. If he hems & haws about waterboarding (say), then you should be able to explore what it is about waterboarding that differentiates it from the more medievil forms (maybe, less blood spilled).

Glenn, you're sure earning your money today.
