" In the meantime, life in prison should be safe and humane, both for those who work there and for those who live there. If a new death chamber helps make that possible, so be it."

Is that some kind of joke?

The real problem

The solution to this grave threat to civility is to simply make the consumption of alcohol illegal again. It's been done before, it can be done again. This would be a welcome addition to the War on Drugs and once the proper laws are drafted we can double our prison population, make our highways safer, provide a boon to rehabilitation hospitals and have something we can look down our noses and shake our fingers at.

Golden Boy

I thought the Berg beheading video was "fishy".

Did you see the photo's of the abuse at Abu Ghraib? Did you notice the white plastic chair? Just like the one Berg was sitting in. Did you notice the color of the walls? Just like the walls at Abu Ghraib. Sure, it's likely to be a coincidence but when you have people that are psychopathic liars and torturers feeding you information it is hard to take that information at face value. When people have a track record of lying it is sometimes easier to believe exactly the opposite of what they say or claim. In the case of this crew, that would be a sure thing.

I don't think Mossad had anything to do with Berg's killing. Our people could manage that without the assistance of anyone.

Liability

If you have a party and serve somoeone too much alcohol and they cause an accident you may be held liable and sued and this can also happen to business establishments as well.

Airlines serve alcohol full well knowing that altitude potentiates the effects of alcohol and a third of their passengers are probably medicated anyway and giving them alcohol is just begging for trouble. As enablers and coconspirators in this affair the airlines are also culpable for these types of incidents.

Unless airlines want to hire bouncers and construct a drunk tank on their aircraft they need to come to the realization that their job is to transport people, not get them drunk.

They don't let you smoke on a plane, why should you be able to get drunk on a plane?

MacK - the real rational for the war

Saddam Hussien supported terrorism. The specifics were underreported and only recently did I hear the neocons actuially dare to say it on Fox - the 20,000 dollar stipend awarded to the families of palestinian suicide bombers. There, that's it, that is the big terrorist act that Iraq was involved in. Everything else was a lie. It was to put an end to the rewarding of terrorist acts against Israel.

More importantly he was threatening economic terrorism against the holy of holies, the American Dollar. Hussein wanted to be paid in Euros rather than Dollars for Iraq's oil.

Those are the two honest reasons for the war.

But those are small potatoes compared to the money that would be made by the defense contractors and the rest of the war industry. Military hardware and munnitions have to be used before the expiration date expires and the industry needs to be making replacements in order to stay in business.

While the defense industry bleeds America dry, the rest of the world watches America implode and collapse and is ready to pick at the pieces. The American leadership has no idea that other countries are playing us for suckers because they are too busy playing the American population for suckers.

Tenet - a self-serving poseur

Well sure he is. He was in the government. You don't think any of those people are starry eyed idealists, do you?

Self-serving poseurs are presicely the types that are drawn to public office and "service".

Role models for America's young women.

I am certainly glad that this important role model for young women has returned to fulfilling her obligation to society and feminism and I look forward to more important news articles like this which lead to the betterment of women everywhere and highlighting the leadership roles available to women in our wondrous land today as a result of the tireless efforts of those in the entertainment industry to enlighten and educate our noble peoples.

Midwifery

We had our two daughters at home with a midwife assisting. It was wonderful and magical. I got to do the delivery and felt them take their first breaths.

Now that's against the law.

That's a crime.

Thank goodness that the esteemed Mr. Gibb was able to save the day. William Hung would have been cheaper.

Ron Paul is news

The corporate news media in this country are not interested in reporting news.

Neither are you.

Its a brave new world

Lies are truth and corruption is patriotism.

When confronted with a psychopath or sociopath there simply is no profitable or reasonable encounter to be had. Whatever they can get away with is their standard for morality. The public is prey.

profits for agribusiness

Corn is the milstone around America's neck. It is heavily subsidized and put into too many food products. It one of the prime reasons this country ihas so many obese people - corn sweetners must be converted into fat before the body can burn them unlike REAL sugar.

Ethanol from corn is good for ADM. You can make it with any agricultural waste cellulose. Using corn is a scam for the benefit of an already heavily subsidized and privilieged industry. There are many crops other than corn that can produce cellulose and oils. A quarter century ago the only people talking about this in this country were the people trying to get hemp legalized to do the same thing.
