[Read the article: Their terrifying sounds]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ars nova was just as difficult as avant garde and it still is around.
Even some pop music borrows elements of the style.
I wouldn't dis hip hop because some of that is extremely complex and tightly crafted art, with boastings from the troubadour era and rhythms kissed with the complexities of ars nova.
A good R&B singer would do so much more justice to Hildegard von Bingen than any artist who has recorded her works to date.
Cage did something rather profound with meta-composition and gaming applied to music as a social construct more over than a standard music piece. Cage is meant to be played more than it is made to be listened to. It is a difficult concept. It has had a great impact. Check out this Cage video on youtube and tell me you are not entertained:

[Read the article: The most interesting debate yet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Each dimension is a projection, or slice of a higher dimension. I just don't see any reason for the number to be limited - how many differnet variable do you need to describe the object, vector or process.
As for this being a prison planet that smacks of gnostism and the insane ruler of this world for whom all great madmen pay homage - from the nag hammadi to the matrix. Have you read V.A.L.I.S.?
I think I'll pass on chatting with Mr. Inman as I am somewhat experienced with the SAIC (CIA's spelled backwards) and am one most likely one of their "projects" from 1997. I can't imagine the other agencies involved would have what it takes.

CBS - morons, idiots and imbeciles
[Read the article: Kucinich, Ahmadinejad and the tongue stud]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I stopped watching CBS news when Dan Rather was booted out. I have glanced at it now and then for a laugh at how pathetic it has become. The President of France realized that he was wasting his time with those idiots and bugged out.
It must be nice to be so stupid that you don't even know it. The only thing that CBS news still does well is that morning magazine show. Last Sunday I caught a little of Face the Nation and I honestly think that Fox News is far more respectable and they are a pack of rabid dogs, albeit well-groomed rabid dogs. It was nice to see a Republican come out against torture which was volunteered as there was no intelligent, probing or worthwhile questions fielded to either guest for fear of offending some neocon or defense contractor.
I suppose CBS news staff are all on psych meds or have used their cellphones a little too often.
CBS - the lights are on but nobody's home.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hannah Storm, a journalist? You have got to be kidding or out of your mind. I don''t think that CBS News has any journalists working for them except for the fellow on the Sunday morning magazine show.
Most "journalists" on the tube are just shills and mouthpieces for the corporations anyway. Any criticism is well deserved and far overdue.

Yep, it's dead.
[Read the article: Their terrifying sounds]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks and props to the 2 or 3 of you who watched and listened to my youtube videos today!
The smallest rise in views today was 2 and the largest 10.
What percentage of the population is even capable of curiosity?
That is why Britney Spears is ever so much more important than any avant-garde or experimental musician.
That's why I spend more time performing pop music and silly love songs. Few people care about art unless it has a social context that provides the incentive and reward rather than any aesthetic motive.
"Oh baby, I really love you." - now there is the incentive and reward.
