... for the Wright/Obama mentions and lack of Clinton negative mentions, what are you worried about?
I guess I could be wrong, but I didn't think Salon was a major news outlet for uneducated voters - the kind of voters who would be influenced by the number of mentions in a column.
Every regular around here knows darn well where Joan's allegiances lie, and her apparent "coming around" the last few days is a direct result of Obama becoming closer and closer to locking it up (thank you, Joe Andrew).
Citing to polls (that feature very poorly phrased and leading questions, I might add) is pretty interesting, becuase in one sense the polls have nothing to do with reality because so many American voters are so hopelessly uninformed or misinformed. On the other hand, the polls are the only reality that matters because those uninformed / misinformed voters will be choosing our next president.
To me, at least, aligning public perception with reality has been the most difficult obstacle for Obama. He has had to deal with so much more blatant bullshit and people not voting for him based on lies and misinformation (he's a secret muslim! he's unpatriotic! he's too black! he's not black enough!) than every other candidate combined.
At least Hillary and McCain are being judged based on the image THEY have crafted for themselves, not the image that has been thrust upon them by the uninformed.
And Obama's STILL winning ... amazing.
Just wanted to interrupt this regularly scheduled anti-Obama article on Salon to make sure everyone knows the Clinton campaign has lied again.
It came from her appearance on O'Reilly. What she said was not controversial - Blowhard Bill was pressing her on his main concerns, raising taxes for rich people, when Hillary said "God Bless rich people". She was being sarcastic and there is nothing controversial about what she said.
But then her campaign came out and lied about it - saying what she really said was "God BLESSED rich people." If you see the video (which I'd be shocked if Hillon, er Salon, posted), you can see that's CLEARLY NOT what she said.
What she said was not a big deal. So why lie about it? Oh yeah, it's because to the Clintons, lying is like blinking or breathing.
They know more than I do about economic stuff! That makes them elitist! I only want to trust people who drink beer and throw back shots, not highfalutin' "economists" with their fancy degrees and supply and demand curve charts.
We can't afford to have an elitist in the White House. We need down home regular folk like Bill & Hillary Clinton back in there! They're just like me!
On the other hand, why Clinton's campaign finds it necessary to lie about Hillary saying "God bless rich people" on O'Reilly is an issue. Not an issue because of the statement, which was said sarcastically and is not controversial at all. The issue is that once again, her campaign has chosen to lie about something inconsequential (Bosnia snipers, being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, etc.).
Although I guess the headline "Clinton Campaign Lies Again" is about the least newsworthy headline possible.
This is indicative of Hillary's campaign in general - sprout off a bunch of detailed policy propositions that SOUND good, but really have no chance of ever being enacted.
She KNOWS this gas tax holiday is total pandering bullshit, but she still says it because it SOUNDS good and detailed to people who know JACK FREAKING SQUAT about economic policy.
Her entire platform is aimed directly at her base - clueless people who are too proud to admit they're clueless, and certainly don't want to be reminded of their cluelessless from an uppity highfalutin' black man. So they clap along at her bullshit policy plans that are based on faulty, simplistic economics have exactly zero chance of ever being enacted, and she gets to pretend she's the non-elitist policy wonk.
Her true cynicism and megalomania lies in her knowing disingenuousness.
Not an easy decision. But only a real asshole lets their dog linger in pain when its time has come and it isn't going to heal.
It's time to put Hillary's campaign to sleep. Like a dog, she lacks the ability to pull her own plug. Indiana has to do it for her.
Like a dog, Hillary will not put herself to sleep. You have to do it for her. For the good of the party and for the good of the country. She was a good pooch, but she's done. Don't let her (or us) linger in pain any longer. Put her campaign down.
I'll agree with just about everyone that Hillary Clinton is one tenacious politician. I'll disagree with anyone who thinks this is what our country needs right now.
Perhaps one of the most shameless opportunists to ever grace the national stage, I'm shocked more people aren't completely dismayed by her consistent lack of ethics or principle. Yes, she's a fighter and is extremely tough and resilient, but by sacrificing her integrity in the process, she reveals that her toughness and resiliency is not designed to help the American people, but rather a blatant power grab.
She knows damn well that her gas tax holiday is economically impracticable. But it polls well, so she sticks to it. This is not leadership ... this is dishonesty on a diabolical scale.
Is this what we can expect from a Clinton presidency? The balls to defy expert analysis in favor of populist simplicity? The courage to fight everyone who disagrees with her instead of listening to opposing viewpoints and making informed decisions? The toughness to never admit she's wrong? More jingoism?
You'd think we'd have learned our lesson from 8 years of such destructive behavior.
Is this evidence of why it's so difficult to leave abusive relationships?
