Oh C'mon -- Stop The World!!
[Read the article: Bush: Too busy for Iraq debate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I mean, it's not as if the world stops when the Congress does their duty."
Well maybe just this once the world SHOULD stop, Mr. President, because Congress HASN'T done its duty for the last 6 years. As you may recall, sir, there was precious little debate when Congress gave you the authority to launch a preemptive attack on Iraq in 2003. But, of course, that was before they, and we, found out that your justification for taking us to war was nothing but a tissue of lies and distortions, despite the fact that your minions did everything they could to squelch the investigation of your bogus claims of WMD. Adding insult to injury, Congress, under your magnificent leadership, disbanded an audit team when it became clear that they were about to reveal that billions of our tax dollars were disappearing down an "Iraq reconstruction" rabbit hole. And was Congress doing its duty when they consistently looked the other way while you pee'd all over our Constitution and the Geneva Conventions? When they voted for some mighty fine tax breaks for the wealthy and for the oil companies and refused to allow our government to negotiate lower prescription drug prices for our seniors? When they decided that giving you virtually unbridled executive power was infinitely preferable to performing any oversight that might have exposed your impeachable offenses?
I realize, Mr. President, that your arrogance is a very large part of your persona but don't you think that just this once you could stop your little world long enough to listen to our elected representatives doing their duty and debating your decision to send more troops to Iraq? Oh, I know, nothing anyone says is going to change your closed little mind but won't you give the people you're supposed to be representing at least the ILLUSION that you give a damn?

Flashback
[Read the article: It's the country just this side of Iran]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm getting this vision ... it's kinda foggy ... wait, it's becoming clearer . Ohmygod, it's a fried egg in a frying pan and this voice is intoning "This is your brain on drugs".
Of course some might say that a fried egg for a brain would be a step up for our decider-in-chief.

Because Rupert Murdoch Says So
[Read the article: Why is Brit Hume treated like a real journalist and news anchor?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Having recently watched Robert Greenwald's "Outfoxed - Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism", nothing anyone says (or doesn't say) on Fox News would surprise me. Given Hume's week-end performance, though, you have to wonder if perhaps his contract will soon be up. If so, I'm betting he just got himself one helluva raise.
There's been talk recently of Congress reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, something that's been tried by the Dems several times since Reagan repealed it in 1987 but each time they lacked the votes. (Isn't it funny how the right consistently screams about the MSM's liberal bias but then scream even louder when reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine is even mentioned ??) I can't imagine that the Dems would have any more success this time around but if/when the Democrats win BIG in 2008 I'd love to see the Fairness Doctrine near the top of their agenda. It might not change the nature of Fox News but at least they'd have to start labelling their programming as entertainment instead of news!

Not Now and Not Ever
[Read the article: White House bats down Cheney resignation talk]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let's face it, even Bush must know that a lot of people don't want any part of impeaching him solely because 2 years of President Cheney would be even worse than 2 more years of President Bush! In fact, Dick Cheney's leg could swell up to the size of the Hindenburg with blood clots rocketing toward his heart at the rate of one an hour and every member of Cheney's staff could get indicted for God only knows what and Bush will be insisting that there's no need for Dick Cheney to resign. (Hell, he's probably got a look-alike Cheney stashed somewhere in case the original croaks.)

How About the 85 that WEREN'T "Purged"???
[Read the article: Prosecutor purge started at the White House]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]According to TPMmuckraker.com, 79 percent of elected officials and candidates under federal investigation between 2001 and 2006 were Democrats, and only 18 percent were Republicans. As a country, shouldn't we be just as concerned, if not more so, about all of the Federal attorneys who WEREN't fired? With numbers like 79 percent vs. 18 percent, it seems pretty obvious to me that the White House has been using the Justice Department to try to destroy the Democratic Party from the bottom up and a helluva lot of Federal attorneys were apparently perfectly willing to go along.
Is this not a much more egregious offense than the Watergate break-in??? When the hell are Pelosi and Reid going to put impeachment back on the table WHERE IT BELONGS? When it becomes clear that the U.S. Attorney General and the United States Department of Justice have become nothing more than an extension of an Executive Branch that will stop at nothing to keep their stranglehold on power, isn't it finally time to throw these bastards out of office and into jail where they belong?
