Barndog's Strategy:

Accuse us of ignoring the facts and then start enlightening us with his version of the truth peppered with facts that have no perspective or context.

Most important: ignore the fact that the U.S. was attacked four times by Islamofascists under the Clinton adminstration, whose response was merely to dispatch a few FBI agents and blow up a few camels and an aspirin factory.

But the only terrorist attack on AMERICAN soil happened under George Bush's watch, not Bill Clinton's. And the sheer NUMBER of terrorist attacks have increased dramatically SINCE 9/11. Of course, the American people really have no way of knowing exactly how many terrorist attacks took place in 2005 because that's when the State Department decided to stop publishing its annual report on international terrorism. (A report it had been publishing since 1985.) Before they turned off that little information spigot the State Department did conclude that there were more terrorist attacks in 2004 than in any year since they started the report. (What a surprise, George Bush suppressing something that might make him look bad.)

Ignore the fact that Sudan offered us Osama's head on a platter, but Clinton turned it down because of his blinkered "law-enforcement" mode of thinking instead of realizing the guy had declared war on us.

And George's daddy could have taken out Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War. If he had, 2400 American soldiers and countless thousands of innocent Iraqis would be alive today. What's the point here? Are you implying that Bill Clinton knew Bin Laden was going to launch an attack on this country and decided not to do anything about it? More to the point, Junior has had five years to find Osama Bin Laden and we're no closer to catching him now than we were on 9/12/2001.

Most important, ignore the fact that the U.S. has not been attacked again since 9/11 because we finally realized we were at war (had been since 1993) and finally decided to fight back.

I'm sorry, but why do Bush supporters have to keep trotting out this LAME factoid? Do you people really believe that America hasn't been attacked again because all those big bad terrorists are just so damned busy fighting us over there?!?!? If that were the case, how ever did they find the time to hit London and Spain? Osama Bin Laden's stated purpose has always been to destroy America and isn't that just what's been happening in the last 5 years without him having to do another damn thing? America is rotting from the inside out. Bush the "uniter" has divided this country 8 ways from Sunday. The only allegiance Congress seems to have is to special interests and large corporations. The "Evangelicals" are more interested in turning their religious beliefs into political agendas and legislation, with little or no respect for anyone's beliefs but their own. Billions and billions of (BORROWED) dollars are being poured into Iraq. They say the final price tag will exceed a staggering half a trillion dollars. And if (or WHEN) the Chinese decide to call in our loans our economy is going to collapse just like the Towers did on 9/11. Mission accomplished.

Last but not least, Barndog apparently wants precision and specifics if you're going to declare that our country is worse off since 9/11. Well, hells bells, Barndog, I'd just love to oblige but after 5 years of George Bush it's kind of evolved into this crushing gut feeling kind of thing with me. Maybe America is turning into the kind of country YOU want to live in but not me. (And kindly don't invite me to leave -- I'm REAL tired of you righties lobbing that little hate ball every chance you get.) I'm 58 years old and I've lived through a lot of history but it took George Bush to make me ashamed to be an American. I can't tell you precisely how much longer I'm going to live (sorry), but I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to live long enough to see the world start looking at America with respect again. (RESPECT, Barndog, not FEAR.) In short, as far as I'M concerned "much, much worse" is a big, big understatement.
