Re-entering the Fray
[Read the article: Anatomy and significance of Monday's FISA victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When the telecommunications companies acquiesced to the administration's demands based on its claim that what it proposed was legal, where were the high priced company lawyers? Don't they know the law? Are they all busy defending drunks in night court? Why was Qwest not punished for refusing to pariticipate?
If support for amnesty is based on the premise that the telecommunications companies didn't know it was legal, their lawyers should be relegated to defending drunks in night court. Their claims of ignorance is preposterous. They do not deserve amnesty any more than a driver who begs off aticket because he didn't see the speed limit sign.

Obama's skills
[Read the article: Listening to Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To a certains extent, Obama's campaign style follows that of FDR in the 1932 election. In that election, FDR only laid out what the problems were, with very little mention of how he was planning to fix them. What he sold was confidence. Obama does as well.

The Press shapes our reactions.
[Read the article: The witch ain't dead, and Chris Matthews is a ding-dong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Those who don't like Hillary yet think the media is being unfair don't seem to realize that their dislike comes from the media and other sources. When she laughs, she is faking it. When she cries, she is faking it. To her detractors, Hillary is always wrong. Therefore her emotions, whatever they are, are not "real." This picture has been pushed by the media for so long that we don't even realize that we have acquired our attitudes from that media.
We don't like her because we don't like her because we don't like her. I ask people who don't like her to tell me why they don't. Most of them can't.

From a lover of the Baroque.
[Read the article: Dirty, sexy opera]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To me, Wagner is simply too wild and unrestrained. Besides, when I listen to his music, I immediately start humming the tune to "Kill the Wabbit."
I must admit, however, that the Wagnerian link with Naziism in particular and anti-Semitism in
general does come to min when I hear his music.

THREE REASONS EMPIRES FALL
[Read the article: Michael Gordon "reports" on the "only serious" Iraq option: Staying forever]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1. Overextension
2. Privatizing the military. Depending on troops of dubious loyalty.
3. Arrogance
1. Our military establishment is in shambles (Ask the generals).
2. We are increasing the use of mercenary troops (Blackwater).
3. We are following a policy of trying to create reality rather than dealing with it. (Our leader
swaggers with his chest puffed out, and talks with fake Texas accent. This constitutes
power in some quarters.)

You used the wrong word.
[Read the article: On Fox News, your morning dose of apocalypse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The faux news network (no caps, they don't deserve them) is always apoplectic. You could title anything you write about it this way: On Fox News, your morning dose of apoplexy.

John Edwards' exit.
[Read the article: John Edwards exits with honor]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just made my decision to vote for next week a lot easier.

Congress is following the Roman Senate
[Read the article: Mukasey's radical worldview is now the norm]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Congress is becoming the Roman Senate, a debating society. We are close to creating a dictator for a stated period of time. Eventually, someone, like Julius Caesar in Ancient Rome, will delare the crisis so formidable that we must elect a dictator for life. We must stop this trend.

YOU'RE A FAMILY!
[Read the article: I get grossed out when I hear, "I'm a mom!"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I chair an event in which tickets are sold as individual or family. I am amazed at how many times husbands-wives ask for two individual tickets. You don't rear a family, you add to it.
Your situation changes, and you must adapt to it. However, you are still who you are. Noone is just a wife or mother or husband or father or store clerk or policeman, etc.

If Ann Coulter Runs
[Read the article: What I really wanted to say to Chris Matthews]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Should women vote for her because she is woman? Should men not vote for Hillary because she is not a man? Stop being ridiculous!
