Palin is way over her head. What enrages me the most is that McCain put her a heartbeat way from the most powerful position in the world, should he win. Stay tuned for the Vice Presidential debate.
I have never blogged or sent letters to the editor before Sarah Palin was nominated. Since then I have been furiously responding to every news article, calling and emailing friends and screaming out in exasperation at the talking heads on TV. I feel like the work of my lifetime (55 yrs) is going down the drain right before my eyes in some cruel, twisted joke. Where is Hillary? We need you now to stop this abheration.
Who is surprised that she doesn't even know what the Bush doctrine is? Palin is way over her head. This is not a job you can cram for. Fortunately the press will reveal her narrow world view and lack of depth soon enough. Sorry Sarah, lipstick doesn't help this time.
Obama is well on his way to the White House. He embodies John Kennedy's famous line "...ask what you can do for your country." by devoting his career to public service. Obama has spelled out specific plans to jump start economic relief for small town America and deal with the housing crisis. None of us can take a passive approach to this years' election, we all need to educate ourselves on the candidates positions and vote!
I want to hear Palin answer questions by the press, you know, like all the other candidates have had to do. Not just a select interview with one reporter. What we will hear is the naive, superficial ramblings of a double talking politico getting nailed, gutted and tossed into the garbage. Americans have little use for liars right now, after eight years of Bush/Cheney. What Palin clearly doesn't understand is the change we are so desperate for requires integrity, vision and keen intellect. She has none of these qualities. The press has a unique radar for phonies as well as for the real deal and they will sort her out.
Women the world over need all three! What scares me about McCain/Palin is that they would deny women these reproductive rights. It is also another example of 'Do as I say, not as I do'.
This article seem a bit dated, as I experience real backlash against public smells here in the U.S. Co-workers are forever complaining about clients who wear perfume, or when products arrive accompanied by their natural scents. Attending a workshop requires that you remove any trace of scent from your person and belongings. I have limited my own use of scent to my days off work and feel quite self indulgent when doing so.
Talking about money and the US economy gets everyone screaming. McCain blames greedy Wall Street, as if he can shame 'them' into financial responsibility. The time for blame, bluster and hand wringing is long past. Fortunately Obama consistently presents clear solutions to prevent further catastrophe.
As the Wall Street crisis reverberates around the world, we see Central Banks injecting funds to stabilize markets. Our economic health requires cool heads, transparency and leadership to change the financial structure of our market. Obama's plan will restore this much needed financial integrity. All McCain offers is bluster and blame, odd since he chairs the commerce committee in the Senate.
The press is doing it's job, thank you! Palin's poor track record is only shocking because she claims the opposite.
Television has a curious way of revealing truth, especially in political debates. When Kennedy debated Nixon, Kennedy came across as knowledgable, prepared and "presidential". Nixon appeared nervous and shifty. I know there is certainly some skill required to think on your feet, but that is a given in the job. McCain has changed positions so much lately even he will have a hard time defending himself. Obama has been clearly consistant on his policies and plans to change the direction of the country. That level of integrity will come across to viewers.
If John McCain cannot even look at Obama, how is he going to perform on the world stage? We've already had a president who refuses to deal with people who do not see eye-to-eye with him. That movie is almost over, no sequel, Please!
We have to vote out each and every Republican politician that continues to act like they are on the Jerry Springer world stage of the Bush era. It may be hard to recognize but we now have a thoughtful, intelligent, decisive leader.
Creative genius is thing to behold.
Blinding and transformative, it explodes our senses anew. Is it ever enough? Can you think of any creative genius who has survived unscathed? Bill Gates, Paul McCartney, Albert Einstein maybe. Once the commercial value is discovered, most are required to achieve even greater and more stunning success. Too much is never enough. The gift blinds all to the shared complicity in their demise.
Look at the everyday creative geniuses who apply their talent. Used up by their careers, they are easily tossed out for a younger, easier to control, cheaper talent who holds the promise of greater profitability. It's a painful and humiliating soul murder that happens every day.
Can we get back to the people of substance and integrity that warrant our attention? I am in awe of most who are willing to devote themselves to public service. It takes intelligence, grit, patience, vision and the ability to withstand incredible scrutiny. No more sissies, please!
Now I get it. The stellar public servants, yes politicians too shine all the brighter with Palin in the picture.
