  • smaller vs. greater love

I disagree with Cary Tennis's response to the woman whose parents disowned her.

My parents disowned me for living with someone not of my race. After I separated from him, they took me back without a word of apology. I know they were wrong; I'm sorry their love was too small, but I refuse to let that limit me. When they are gone, I will know I was a good daughter which will be of some comfort.

Parents are human beings; human beings vary in their ability to love. The writer's parents may have loved all that they were capable of loving which wasn't enough to surmount a wall erected by their fundamentalist culture. That doesn't mean the writer has to be limited by that wall. If her parents are willing to take her back into their lives even though they were in the wrong and have not apologized, it will benefit her to be a dutiful daughter. She has the greater love and nothing is more powerful than the act of loving.

  • control, control, control

Control as in a scientific study. Are young *gay* men having comparable problems with ED? If so, that probably eliminates male/female dynamics as a cause. If not, are there other differences between the hetero- and homosexual cohorts - like drinking, drug use, or obesity that might explain the problems young straight men are having?

  • But the bread was delicious.

When you start with Stephen Colbert and end with Jon Stewart, why do you fill the middle with baloney? I'll just have the bread, thank you.
