Regardless of what my opinion of Hillary Clinton is, that AP article by Ron Fournier is a disgusting piece of so-called journalism. I don't see anything identifying it as "opinion" or "analysis" -- if it's supposed to be fair reporting, he'd better take remedial classes at the closest J-School. Sheesh!
Maybe he's angling for an on-air job at State Run Television -- Fox News.
In one sense, Dick Cheney draws his strength directly from George W. Bush, not from the American people.
Cheney's greatest strength in office is his ability to manipulate GWB because of his ignorance of foreign policy, history, and matters relating to national security.
If it weren't for Bush's monumental weaknesses, Cheney would not enjoy the strength that he has amassed.
It matters not whether Cheney is living in a bubble. He's still the boss -- and continuing to get what he wants.
You love you some Kucinich*
I may not be as hip as you are, but what on earth does that mean?
*(your words in your last graf)
...once at a political gathering in that far northwest corner of Washington State and once at a vegan grocery store in Oregon.
Both times I thought he was entertaining, but definitely not a leader -- especially not a world leader.
He's a good opening act.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bush said "Pak government." Recall the time when tensions were at a fever pitch between India and Pakistan and Bush said:
I don't believe the situation is defused yet, but I do believe there is a way to do so, and we are working hard to convince both the Indians and the Pakis there's a way to deal with their problems without going to war.
Calling Pakistanis "Pakis" is considered an ethnic slur in some circles, but apparently not in Bush's mind. The rationale at the WH to "explain" Bush's use of the term, Paki, was to claim that it wasn't problematic because most Americans are unaware that the term is offensive.
What should be expect from a pResident who refers to Greeks as Grecians?
Oy.
Ron Paul's fundraising success speaks more to the feebleness of the Republican presidential line-up and his ill-informed supporters, than it does about the candidate himself.
Caveat emptor!
When journos stop taking pot shots at each other and trying to out-sleaze each other for ratings, maybe they'll do their job and provide important information that informs.
...the Unitary Executive, His Excellancy Rudy Mussolini.
You "bowled" me over with that one!
Good one!
Tim Grieve writes: Musharraf reportedly told his national security council today that he plans to get his recent reelection validated by the Supreme Court justices he has just appointed...
Then the next step is for the Musharraf self-selected Supreme Court to rule that no election will be scheduled for reasons of national security.
It's a pretty damned sad state of affairs when a tinhorn dictator thumbs his nose at the (allegedly) mighty George W. Bush.
Musharraf is calling the shots while GWB's credibility is tumbling to new depths. GWB and his ineffective foreign policy team can no longer get anyone to comply with their demands.
GWB, as the authoritarian father, has met his match with another authoritarian figure -- we're in for a bumpy ride if one of them decides to prove his authority.
Perhaps these hotshot campaign advisors are just incompetent.
Rudy is confident he'll get the nomination and figures that Mike Huckabee will be happy to put down his bass guitar and play second fiddle on the GOP ticket. Mr. "Night-Mayor" knows that in the general he'd need someone with bona fide Christian conservative authenticity to prop him up. Huckabee fits the bill.
But, I think Rudy is going to be a colossal flameout. It's just a matter of time and exposure.
Most people aren't paying any attention to this horse race right now.
Huckabee? Is that a new brand of jam?
