If only the campaigns and the media and the nominees' supporters cared more about real issues...

...it'd be a whole different ball game. But no. All this crapola about who's the bigger elitist, who's out-of-touch with ordinary Americans (hint: they both are!), rapid responses with backup video! Rah. Rah. Rah.

With that said, Obama's handlers better watch their step because Axelrove may be good at what he does, but the Repubs' pitbulls have more experience, and they have more "success" latching onto the jugular and not letting go.

I've heard that it won't be long before the Repubs trot out the alleged reasons why Obama, in his books and his campaign speeches, glossed over his mom's five years in the Seattle-area when she was a teenager, graduating from Mercer Island High School in 1960 (a Seattle suburb). It's always Kansas and Hawaii. Seldom a mention that his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Dunham, and his mom, Stanley Ann Dunham, lived in the Seattle-area for five years enroute from Kansas to Hawaii. I think Obama should stick to issues, ideas, policy and his plans for the country if he wants to win, and he should stay away from personal stuff about McCain's homes, etc.

The media would do Obama a huge favor by laying off this stuff, too.

She'd have it paid off, if she wasn't...

...shilling for Obama.

But, this is good news, if she defaults on her debts (which isn't likely)...."According to Clinton's disclosure forms filed Thursday, she owes the most ($5.2 million) to her former top advisor Mark Penn's polling/political consulting firm, Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates."

mimawright is right. You should read:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/gerard_baker/article4582920.ece

mimawright noted this opinion piece on another thread, but it is worth repeating. The reason this link is appropriate for this thread, IMO, is that the Obama Supporters should find ways to bolster him without resorting to tearing down someone (Clinton) who is no longer in the race, but in fact, offering to lend a hand to help get him elected. Is your hatred for all things Clinton blinding you to reality?

Holy nothingness!

I like Joe Biden, but for cripes sakes, all this buildup for ole Joe?

Yawn.

Original article: It's Biden

The comedians are going to have a field day with Obama's "management" of this announcement.

I can see it now --

Calling it in jokes.

3 AM phone call jokes.

Change with a guy who's got 6 terms in the Senate jokes.

PS I like Biden though.

Here's the ticket: John McCain and William Cohen

If McCain picked Bill Clinton's former Secretary of Defense, William Cohen, as his running mate, he would gain so much traction that David Axelrod's "defense" team would be caught so off-guard they wouldn't know what hit 'em.

Sure, the chattering class would find stuff to fling at Cohen, but hey! He's a moderate Republican, married to a successful African-American, a former U.S. Senator from Maine, who also has a record of standing up to the Big Dawg, even though it was Bill who had the balz to ask him to be his SecDef.

Sunday, August 24, 2008 08:21 PM

Obama took his name OFF THE BALLOT -- he coulda left it on!

For crying out loud! He didn't have the balz to leave his name on the ballot because he was scared s**tless that he'd lose to Hillary.

@audioscape

Oh, you want a constitutional law "professor" who eviscerates the Rule of Law?

Well, you got your man in Obama. His willingness to trash the Fourth Amendment is just what you ordered, apparently.

Original article: It's Obama time!

It's Obama's responsibility to heal the party.

If Eric Blair had written, "All Democrats want unity, but some Democrats want unity more than others," the chattering class would be yammering, "Yes, yes. That's so true. Obama wants unity. But Bill and Hillary are not helping enough!"

For all of you who believe that the Clintoni aren't doing enough to unite the Dem Party, here's a novel idea: Barack Obama, the presumptive nominee, should be forced by the DNC and his backers to take the lead in healing the party.

How is he going to bring the country and the world together, if he can't bring his own party together?

A new fight brewing? Typical of the Dems.

Well, things are heating up.

Daddy Yankee endorsed McCain.

Who says white-haired old men don't like Gasolina!

Monday, August 25, 2008 01:01 PM

Let's see...Daddy Yankee endorses McCain, Michelle is rumored to be pregnant, Hillary is (or isn't) unifying the party...

Meanwhile, we all know that Barack Obama is the nominee, but the deal is HIllary gets some votes before he's nominated by unanimous consent.

What a 3-ring circus.

It tries to create agreement by whitewashing dissent.

Spot on.

@Janice

Unless I missed it, I believe that JEAN KENNEDY SMITH is still living, too, in addition to Eunice Kennedy Shriver, as you mention. She was named an ambassador by President Bill Clinton.

Makes one wonder if girls are just not as revered as The Boys.

Monday, August 25, 2008 04:52 PM

Last survivor of the Camelot generation? Not so...

Excuse me. I believe two of the FEMALE siblings are still alive -- Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Jean Kennedy Smith.

Don't they count?
