Wilma Mankiller:
Wilma Mankiller, the first woman Chief of the Cherokee Nation and the first female in modern history to lead a major Native American tribe, announced her endorsement of Hillary today. Chief Mankiller will serve as a National Campaign Co-Chair for the Clinton campaign.
Chief Mankiller said:
"This 2008 election is about choosing a leader who can articulate a clear and common vision for our collective future. I believe Senator Clinton is the best person to do that for a variety of reasons, including her early and consistent support for tribal governments. Since I first met President Bill and Hillary Clinton when they were in Arkansas, they have understood and supported tribal treaty rights and sovereignty.
The Senator Clinton I know is a focused, strategic thinker who has the drive and ability to get things done. She is a person of faith who lives her faith by working for the common good."
Go, Wilma!!! Go, Hillary!
The only polls that count are election day.
The pollsters are going to get a thumping...again!
This is what campaigns do for chrissakes.
Much ado about nothing.
from one of his pizza franchises in Chicago -- you know those pizza parlors where he "cooked the books" on minority status to get special status?
great job on your article.
Your brother has competition! :-)
The educated citizens/voters of Massachusetts vote their interests. They have repeatedly supported Senator Edward Kennedy because he has represented them competently in the U.S. Senate. However, they are wise enough to know that his endorsement of Obama is not in their best interest, nor in the best interest of the country.
So, being as smart as they are, they rejected Kennedy's endorsement and pulled the lever for Hillary Clinton. That Senator Clinton won Massachusetts -- and Obama LOST -- speaks volumes about his (un)electability in a national election.
Why does Huck have a real photo? Or, was he expected to be just an *
Well, anyway, I think the drawings are pretty damned representative of the candidates' "look."
Good job..
Hillary Clinton is doing just fine. The media built her up, to knock her down, but guess what, she's still standing.
On the other hand, Barack Obama has gotten a free pass from the git-go. If he snags the nomination, we'll see that he won't be able to withstand the Rovian onslaught. He's way too thin-skinned and peevish. (BTW, that photo of him that salon selected is representative of his general facial expressions --ill-tempered.)
...and does not have any effect on the allocation of delegates.
Why is Washington State having Caucuses and a Primary?
The Washington State Legislature was the body who voted to hold a primary. The means that the Washington State Democratic Party, which chooses how delegates are decided, had no participation in the decision to hold the primary, which will cost $9 to $10 million. The Washington State Democratic Party decided to choose their delegates through the Caucuses, as it always has. As a result, a vote for a Democratic candidate in the State Primary will not count toward delegate selection.

photographed with Gavin Newson. Unlike that unnamed other candidate.
I know this is not politically correct, but it's unlikely that a black (or biracial candidate, for that matter, who relies on the black vote for support), will do anything to take the lead on ensuring gays have equal marital rights. In fact, that other unnamed candidate is a coward.
Ianna, I can totally relate.
...a candidate can "reach" more voters in a televised debate, than s/he can in a on-site rally of already committed supporters.
Obama prefers the rallies over debates because, if there's one thing he does well, it's working a crowd.
I say the more debates, the better it is for our election process. There are a lot of topics that haven't been covered with any depth -- the climate crisis, for one.
I'd love to see them go toe-to-toe on that pressing issue in a televised debate -- even on Faux News.
Oh, BTW, for the poster who equates Hillary with Rupert Murdoch -- did you miss the announcement that Murdoch's U.S. "flagship" newspaper endorsed Obama?
doesn't take questions from his adoring crowds? His schtick is to come in, give a flowery, uplifting sermon...and get the hell out of the room before any questions are possible.
Snap out of it! :-)
One of my sisters and my brother phoned me to make contributions on their behalf ASAP to Hillary -- they are at work and cannot use work computers for such activities.
So, they gave....but not at the office!
...it is.
Why? Because the Obama campaign and much of the media have to eat their words.
They had written her off has DOA.
“Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding the surrender to terror.” -- Mitt Romney, in his swan song.
But, on a more serious note, knowing how General Rove works, it is perhaps a harbinger of things to come that Bush did not mention McCain's name.
A think we're in for a BIG surprise.
Regardless of how one feels about the necessity for an apology from Bill Clinton or David Shuster for their remarks, if a fair-minded person does a side-by-side comparison of those two boys' apologies, Bill wins because his apology was real.
A side note: If David Shuster had said the same thing about Michelle Obama or their daughters (assuming they were old enough to make the phone calls), Shuster would be in the unemployment line, not getting more airtime to keep this ridiculous story going!
