Sebelius, on the other hand, stuck mainly to platitudes, especially about her hope that the two parties would come together in a spirit of bipartisanship, and she offered little in the way of concrete policy ideas....
Update: Marc Ambinder reports that Sebelius will be endorsing and campaigning with Barack Obama tomorrow.
Hope, platitudes, coming together, but nothing concrete...sounds like Obama wrote Sebelius' response.
that if Floridians make the effort to vote for her, they deserve to be thanked for their support. It ain't beanbag, folks!
The citizens of Florida didn't make the decision to piss off the party by scheduling the state primary earlier than "allowed" -- so why should the citizens be marginalized and ignored when they use their franchise as they see fit?
Next we'll hear that Hillary showed up in the Sunshine State wearing sandals and her toenails were painted!
I've enjoyed reading you so far (brevity is important however) and in the spirit of the season of hope and change, I have high HOPE that you'll do a great job!
Welcome to the hot seat. :-)
Get on the horn with Thomas Frank and get a reading from him on this.
...he's really pissing off a lot of Florida PRIMARY VOTERS, just has he pissed off the PRIMARY VOTERS in Michigan.
When he said to the press before Michigan: "Our position and the position of the DNC is clear – neither the Florida nor Michigan primaries are playing any role in deciding the Democratic nominee and we are not campaigning in either state."
Those citizens who took the time and effort to vote in the Michigan and Florida primaries don't appreciate being told by Obama's punk-ass spokesman that they don't play any role in deciding the Democratic nominee.
Well said!
And you were much more diplomatic than I was -- smart-ass is a much more acceptable adjective, than punk-ass.
It's questionable whether Hillary Clinton's win in Florida will matter for anything other than PR, but in her speech she emphasized that she wants it to.
At least you acknowledged it was a win -- FYI, a "win," as a noun or a verb, is a victory.
Hillary's "win" is not about public relations, it is about reality. The reality is, SHE EFFIN' WON the majority vote of the people in Florida who voted in the Democratic primary. How difficult is that to understand?
Edward L. Bernays would be laughing at the media and its ridiculous spin that they're trying to attach to Hillary's clear win in Florida.
...the caucus is on Feb 9th and the primary on Feb 19th, this year.
The party pooh-bahs say that the caucus is too restrictive because, by its very nature, it limits participation, i.e. hospitalized, homebound, nursing home residents, those serving in the military, out of the country business travelers, etc. cannot participate.
We have a primary, also, so that those who want to have a voice in the process, can.
I guess Obama is trolling for that endorsement.
But, I heartily agree with his sentiments.
CHANGE into his tribute.
Very clever politician, that Obama.
Is Gov. Sibelius about to roll-over for Big Coal? Is that what Obama refers to when he yaks about "working together?" Finding common ground with polluters?
But, on that other topic...Why doesn't her 23-YO son move out of the Governor's Mansion and stop using the people's house as his business address to sell that despicable board game that his parents are so proud of? Surely Obama does not know that the board game is covered with black men's faces, mocking them shamelessly.
Showing up in El Dorado may get the locals out of the house and into the meeting hall, but Obama is "using" the good people in Kansas as blatantly as GOP politicians have when they use religion for their personal gain. For godsakes! Obama's grandparents were born there, but moved to Hawaii years and year ago. Obama never stepped foot in town until he saw an opportunity to use it for political gain. Get real!
Let's see...old, tired, 3rd time around the track, Ralph will be 74-YO on February 27th.
Look he's tricked out his Huffmobile with a SPOILER! Truly a guy who's unsafe at any speed, driving off in a huff.
Get lost, Ralph!
No matter who the "majority" of the participants in the poll picks for the endorsement, there will be a negative impact on MoveOn's dwindling membership rolls. Another catfight in the membership will ensue if MoveOn decides to endorse.
I bet Clinton and Obama have their finger's crossed that the other one will get the endorsement -- MoveOn borders on irrelevancy.
In 2000, after an article in the paper repeated the falsehood, the New York Times ran this correction...
Admittedly, I have some residual respect for the Grey Lady in light of its missteps on Iraq, but there are a lot of "corrections" that they could have printed, but didn't. Judith Miller comes to mind...
However, Alex, if this is the best you could drudge...er....dredge up on Hillary in the gotcha game, your readership is going to tank.
Nony, I can't vouch for your claim that not a single Obama supporter here has said they won't vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination, but I can say that Barack Obama made the claim that his supporters will NOT support Clinton.
He has said that more than once.
